Is a HFT account subject to day trading regulation?

I made a HFT program and am wondering if I must maintain a minimum account balance of $25,000.

I do not have that kind of cash so I wouldn't be able to do that.

So is a HFT program subject to the same rules of a day trader?

whats the difference? how does it change just because you have an automated strategy?

Yes. HFTs are obviously subject to PDT rule and any other laws/regulations that you are subject to trading manually apply. Be careful too, your account can get flagged and suspend for 90 days or more if you break the PDT rule.
