This analogy, as vulgar as it is, can be equally applied in the complete opposite direction. Just because you support a Trump position doesn't mean you are "blindly supporting" Trump. People have different positions. Positions should be discussed and argued/debated. There's really no need to bring up Trump at all while the position is being debated. At the end, when you come to an agreement of why the position is wrong or right (or even if you can agree to disagree) then you can bring up the people on your "side" or the other person's "team" that support it.
