The point is that they could have just done like everyone else and not publish the cartoons, but they did and therefore took a risk by doing so. What is to stop a crazed, homegrown, Muslim fanatic from taking offense and throwing a bomb at their offices?

Many of the world's present problems would disappear if the Chinese would sell the Palestinians nukes. The solution to the Middle East problem is simple and brutal: kill 'em all--both Jews and Arabs. Nukes would turn desert sand into glass--might make for a pretty picture.

It's ironic that the same media that have no qualms about insulting the deeply held beliefs of the Christian culture that is the vast majority of this country feel the need to walk on eggshells concerning a bunch of violence-obsessed islamist zealots. I give the SF Gate a lot of credit for having the balls to put their necks on the line.
There has been very little mention in the media of the horrifying slanders of Christians and Jews that are printed daily in government-controlled press throughout the middle east, particularly in Egypt which we subsidize to the tune of billions a year.
It's time for someone in a position of authority to tell these muslim whiners to shut the f*ck up. We're tired of your constant complaining, your absurd lack of even-handedness and your crude attempts to censor us. We'll be concerned about "insults" to your religion when you appreciate that flying airplanes into skyscrapers and blowing up children are infinitely more hideous.

"Khameini pointed out that 'the holy anger [of Muslims in response to the cartoons] is not directed against Christians.' He also denounced the Western 'conception of freedom.' According to that notion, he noted, 'every doubt or refutation regarding the myth' of the killing of Jews during the World War II era 'is prohibited, but gratuitously insulting more than a billion-and-a-half Muslims is authorized.'"
Read my above posts and my posts on other threads. Jewish institutional influence necessarily means Jews will deny rights to others. Much hatred directed against US and Christians is caused by Jewish influence. An example is US support of Israel. Osama has stated many times that he attacks the West becuase of its support of Israel.
