You obviously do not understand the full complexity of an invasion & occupation of a foreign land & terrain.
US was losing Vietnam and short of about a million troops sweeping the jungle, there was no chance. Wasn't happening, considering the already rock bottom morale of the troops and protests at home.
Bombing it was not working since USSR and China supplied Vietnam with almost everything. Plus, US has managed to anger almost every peasant and villager, getting them to turn to Vietcong and guerilla warfare.
As for Russia (or USSR to be exact) bombing Afghanistan, why don't you educate yourself and tell me WTF is there to bomb in Afghanistan?
I have friends who fought in Vietnam who say we could of won the
war there. They say the freakin' long hair pot-smoking war protestors
were one of the reasons morale was so low. They say the US quit
the bombing because of the cry babies at home. I know people who
died from agent orange in the war.
I will take their viewpoint over yours.
I guess there is nothing to blow up or shoot in Afghanistan. No wonder Russia
couldn't win the war. There was nothing but ghosts there. Weird huh?

know we had done inspections in Iran. I didn't realize that Iran
would be so kind not to even consider the idea of building nukes
because they are such good friends with Israel, ect. I feel so
relieved by your convincing thoughts.
I wish you would of had these thoughts before WWII started.
The US could of stayed home instead of going to Europe. I am
sure Hitler was just being kind and nothing was amiss there either.
In fact, after reading Publishers kind posts, it is a certainty that
Hitler was a kind man who only wanted to help the Jews.

i am not even a US native, so i respect what your friends are
saying. but what comes to my mind is that the war was really lasting.
it seems unlikely to me, that it was just the reluctancy at home
that prevented victory for such a long time. just my personal
opinion. no offense intended.
i would rather think that in certain military environments material
and technical superiority do not mean too much. guerilla is the
main key word here. germans in certain areas of the balkan
experienced that as well as the US in vietnam, the russians in
afghanistan, the US again in iraq. and i would think that for the
strong US military force this is still hard to swallow.
