Recall that the UN weapons inspectors reported finding no real evidence of WMD in Iraq, but various intelligence agencies under a certain amount of duress from their respective governments insisted that they knew better. History may repeat itself, but it seldom does so soon.
As far as I am concerned nukes are more important to mullas than electricity. If it was only for electricity they wouldnot be so hardheaded. Why is that after their hardliner came to power Iranians suddenly realised that they need enrichment for electricity now and not a minute later? They lived without nuclear powerplants for the last 100 years and they can live without them for another 100 years. Why all this psycho mania and aggravated political tension right after the election? And why all this peaceful enrichment has to be accompanied with this rabid belligerent rhetoric? Of course their plans are much bigger than simply electricity. Or you think once they have a know-how of obtaining uranium their generals will sit on the fence and would not want a piece of action? And what they'll get in response from their president? 'No, sorry guys, back up, this stuff is for electricity only'.
A nuclear armed Iran is no more a threat to world security than a nuclear armed Pakistan.
If Iran uses the nukes (which they won't), everyone knows they're gone. And I mean wiped off the planet.
The Iranians know this perfectly well.
Their nuclear ambitions are defensive only.
Iran has witnessed histories biggest agitator and aggressor in the Middle East - the US - threaten, subvert and steamroll its oil rich neighbors who lacked a credible nuclear deterrent.

Thats why the US won't touch North Korea. The North Koreans have enough conventional artillery to level Seoul in 15 mins.
Therefore, Irans only defense against an impending US overthrow is nuclear.
And to be fair, a nuclear-armed middle east would provide far more security to the region than these phoney wars of "benevolent liberation" we've seen of late.
