SouthAmerica: Bin Ladden forced Americans to:
1) Adopt the US Patriot Act (a big blow to the US Constitution and Bill of Rights)
2) He forced the American forces out of Saudi Arabia.
3) The US government to spy on American citizens on American soil.
4) To become even more neurotic about the boogieman that is on its way to get the Americans.

Sputdr: SA your judgment is so clouded by your communist thoughts you can't be taken seriously.
In one thread you say the US is about to become a banana republic and will fail but somehow the rest of the world will thrive and then in another you say N Korea will nuke Japan and the world will hit crisis mode because of derivatives.

SouthAmerica: The North Koreans could not match the US nuclear power in case of a nuclear war â they could manage one or two bombs to explode and then they would be annihilated by the vast number of US nuclear weapons.
But North Korea has an option available to them that would destroy the entire American economy â all they have to do is to launch a nuclear warhead to the center of Tokyo, Japan â end of story.
I did not say any place in Japan â I said a specific target â Tokyo, Japan. A nuclear hit in the center of Tokyo would be a mortal blow to the global economy. If you have any idea what the global derivatives market is then you know what I am talking about.
A nuclear hit in the center of Tokyo is not about killing a large number of people â it is about destroying an entire economic system.
If that happened the global derivatives market would have a massive meltdown â and in turn the US economy also would have a meltdown.
You might be thinking but we have this huge army and we would crash the North Koreans. Fine, but what would happen next to the US is what happened to the Soviet Union since 1990 â with no money to continue financing its massive defense spending the army would deteriorate very fast and in no time you are just a has been and an ex-superpower.

toc: Regarding bringing America to its knees, the US had little choice but to react 'very firmly' to 9/11 events. Otherwise, terrorists would have up the ante and gone the WMD route using chemical and nuclear items.

SouthAmerica: The truth is the terrorists could attack the US with chemical weapons at any time and kill one million Americans â all they have to do is use the same strategy that they used on 9/11 - they used creativity and immagination and they don't have to bring even the chemical weapons with them. The chemical weapons are available all over the United States and they are stored in thousands of silos everywhere.
To tell you the truth I am surprised that they have not follow up with another attack in US soil â since today we are as vulnerable to a terrorist attack as we were the day before 9/11.
Americans have the illusion that the country is safer today than in September 9, 2001 â but we are not - all you have to do is drive on the New Jersey Turnpike and you donât have to go too far - when you are driving South in the NJ Turnpike starting a few miles from New York City you look at both sides of the highway and you can see hundreds of silos full with all kinds of nasty chemicals â and most of these sites are completely unguarded.
(Chemical companies are in the business of making money and not of hiring guards to protect all these hazardous chemical sites from a potential terrorist attack that might never happen â Wall Street would not be happy if these companies were spending a ton of money to guard these sites 24/7 all year around.)
If the terrorists wanted it would be a piece of cake for them to blow up any of these sites with terrible consequences to millions of people who live close to these very populated areas. And this is only an example the same kind of condition can be found all over the United States around the major cities. It is impossible to protect all of these sites from a terrorist attack.
One of the major non-profit organizations â I believe it is Green Peace or some other one â goes on a regular basis to these chemical sites and they beat the security if there is one â but their goal is just to find out what kind chemical these companies are storing on these silos. If Green Peace can go in and out of these sites with no problem I guess that would be a piece of cake for a real terrorist â all they need is one or two terrorists to do a lot of damage and kill a lot of people with these chemicals.
PBS and 60 minutes have had programs in the past few years showing how vulnerable we are in the US in all these locations if the terrorists decide to attack one of the locations. We are very vulnerable to a terrorist attack here in New Jersey because of the large amount of these silos that we have around here. All we can do is hope that if the terrorists decide to go that route that they would not do it around were our family and friends are living.
The Bush administration keeps trying to say that Americans are more secure today than on 9/11 but the reality is that is just a bunch of Bullshit. (as usual)
The United States is as vulnerable today to a terrorist attack in US soil as the United States was on September 11, 2001.
If you believe otherwise then you are living in the world of illusion.
