IRA Accounts

I have been trading Equities in my IRA Rollover for 5 years now with no audit. The only drawback is NO margin and therefore no short selling.

There is a way you could put 6k in your IRA by putting in 2003 and 2004 with your opening deposit before 04/15/04. You could put in 7k if your old enough (maybe 7.5k. I must look up if its 4k this year).

Ebo its not margin..... do not use this word with Futures. Were you in the quadriga thread earlier?

Quote from Ebo:

Assuming I have $100K in my IRA ROLLOVER now.
Can I trade in that acount with the same Margin as a "Regular" Futures account?

Quote from SethArb:

the IRS would not allow active trading in IRA accts

or is that allowed as long as its not main source of income?

Also active traders cannot contribute to IRA's ?

Well, if you 'always thought' that, then you were most plainly Always Wrong.

"Main Source of Income?" It sounds like you don't even know what an IRA is.

"Also active traders cannot contribute to IRA's ?"

I'm an active trader and deducting IRA contributions on my tax returns.

Perhaps some research on your part might be in order.

I deleted my last post, because I learned a little from your post. By the way it is not grammer I am correcting...its the definition of the word and its application, I am correcting. But interestingly don't brokers make one open a margin account to trade Futures or is it a cash account? Or is it just another type of account?

I gather you don't like Quadriga?

Michael B.

P.S. By the way are Futures considered instruments to speculate with....not to build ones retirement with?

P.S.S. Try not to stress out so much..... :)

Quote from Ebo:

EXCUUUUSEEEEEEEEE me!
Thanks for correcting my grammar.
Why did you delete your last post?
I hope that Quadriga post goes away!

Pro funds is another type of service like Rydex..it has a 15k min...also brokerages like Scotttrade allow you to trade Rydex and Profunds for smaller amounts with no hidden fees.....

Thanks Horse!
I just need a way, other than RYDEX funds to be net SHORT in my IRA since I can not sell ETFs. I will speak to both my futures Brokers.

Thanks Michael!
I use several of the RYDEX funds in my IRA.
The TITAN/TEMPEST and VELOCITY/VENTURE are great for index investing in the IRA and enable the "Short" effect!

Ebo....

If your "in" to signal services Here is one for Pro funds:
http://www.americafirstinvestor.com/?p=stats#

for Rydex:
http://www.stockmarkettimer.com/

for stocks:
http://www.getfolio.com/

for options: (this one is new to me)
http://www.mrswing.com

for hedge funds: (you know this one ebo)
http://www.quadrigafund.com/

These all are conservative IRA type of systems.....

Michael B.

Can anybody else add to this list...it would be appreciated...

I particularly like the low drawdown at americafirst. So far it has hit a whopping 5.1%.....

The returns are not for ETr's ...but hey this is supposed to be a conservative retirement vehicle for an IRA...
