Iqfeed forces you to pay for API if using custom software

So... Just got off from a chat with a DTN sales person and was told that if I want to make my own custom software to work with their feed I'll have to pay $300/y for the API. I'll have to do this even if I reverse engineer other existing software in order to make my custom software inter-operate with their servers (in which case I wont need the API at all). Apparently there is some agreement that you sign when you pay for the feed that excludes you from doing this. Not really much point to this post other than to moan. Why should I pay $300 per year to write *my own* custom software??

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this feature either. I'd have preferred it if they tacked on a smaller API per month cost as an alternative to the $300. The free trial isn't enough time to determine whether you'd want to use it as an API. If they made it $300/12, it'd be cheaper to try and commit to the product.

The thing is, you get what you pay for. As a low end service, it sort of does what it advertises. Given all the other retail services out there, this feed actually is priced correctly.
 
it's been always like this..but that fee is use to be in range between 750 and 500. now for only 300 per year it's a fucking bargain :D
 
Pretty standard for just about every the technology provider out there. They typically will want to do compliance testing before you connect, and there are obviously special support requirements if you use their API.

then form one. just to write off the expenses,if you think that they are too high. imo-it's worth it to have one just for that. check your PM
