Most of you probably know this, but I discovered it by chance.
Through Spectrum Cable I have 300 Mbps connectivity hardlined into my desktop. Plenty of speed. While internet is down today I used my iPhone with my iPad to get around, using my iPhone for data feed (hotspot). The prompt opens in the phone asking if I wanna wireless/Bluetooth/USB.
...well I got to thinking...
I plugged in the USB phone charger into an open port on the desktop and voila... what do know. It works like a charm. Running a bunch of programs and streaming Netflix for shits and giggles, and not a hiccup.
Now I'm not suggesting to go cut the hardline, but in a pinch, it's nice to have a solid option. The connection was seamless.
