IP banned?

I attempted to log in today and came across a prompt saying my IP was banned.

After a bit of confusion and wondering whom I might have pissed off, I noticed that I was still in vpn mode.

When my vpn isn’t active, I can access the site just fine.

I’m a noob around this issue. It appears it is discernible for a site to know if one is connecting through a vpn or not, why is there a restriction for doing so?

Also, does this mean when I’m on a vpn, elitetrader forum is off-limits and that there is no setting to adjust like a whitelist or something?
 
LOL, just logged in and took a look at this and destriero's post no longer showing. I guess he has blocked/ignored me, too funny.
 
You VPN is sharing one (or more) of your IP addresses with a host of bots. Unfortunately the only way to block them from creating multiple aliases is to block those addresses.

If you have a specific logon IP address that you would like to use let me know (via PM) and I will see about whitelisting it.
