Investing in a failing economy question

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and I wanted to ask a question

I was watching this documentary http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/richie-rich-gets-richer/

And it stated that a lot of people invested in failing Greek economy and made a large profit (in the process making Greece's economy worse). Is this true?

What possible investments can one make in order to make money in a failing economy?
