Quote from Xspurt:
I'm asking myself if I am certain I understand. For example, can this be applied directly to manufacturing efficiency? Or, how does it relate to trading? In trading are you saying there is a trade off between certainty and opportunity in that the more we demand perfection we can be more likely to end up with less chance for profit, whereas a higher risk profile gives more space for intuition to make the difference?
I was invited to see round a plastic film manufacturing operation and the film was rolled from the extruder up into the air for about 15' while jets of air were blown on to it to cool the film before taking it back down and into the final roll.
They were working in accordance with what they saw as the most efficient practice but it seemed intuitive to me that if inlet sucking in room temperature air was replaced with chilled air from a portable a/c that the machine could run faster. They had never thought of that so long story short we got a portable a/c connected and production went up by a huge percentage.
Perhaps it was because I was not encumbered by all the rigid ideas of how things must be done that allowed me think outside of the box.
An incredibly powerful and meaningful illustration of the Intuition Power! Thank you for sharing!
