Banned vs likely suspended for now might be more accurate. Why the panic? ES margin is typically just under 5% of notional. CME has been slow to increase margin with the SP moving over 2% per day. It sounds like a good idea to me. I wonder how those FCMs are doing that offer 500 margin for DT on ES?
India? The press is saying this announcement comes out of India - initial stays throughout the trade on Indian futures.

If you would simply trade your account as if you are under exchange full margin all the darn time, and not the fake "intraday margin" brokers tease you with, you might sleep better at night. Try to not over lever, yeah?
