International markets

One thing that particularly intrigues me about IB is the way they offer access to international markets and multi-currency accounts. The only reason I'm not with them is they don't currently accept Canadian accounts.

Does anyone know of a broker that offers access to international equity markets in this way?

I have looked at a few, but most seemed very expensive. I have heard the state of commission charges in the UK is almost as bad as in Canada...
