Interactive Brokers TWS Bug Thread

Quote from sculptor66:

Here is a bug that hasn't been fixed for quite a time, despite reporting to IB:

Try this:

1. Assign a hotkey (like Ctrl-B) to the feature "Attach Bracket Orders". If you try it now, it works fine.

2. But then, use a feature which reloads/regroups the TWS windows, like loading another workspace layout, or "File > Open Settings File" or "View > OS Window_Bar"

3. After that, try the hotkey again. Now the pressing the hotkey results in generating TWO attached bracket orders instead of one.

It doesn't even stop at that. Every time you use a feature which reloads/regroups the TWS windows, subsequent use of Ctrl-B (like in my example) results in an additional bracket order. So, if you switch between 5 times between different workspaces, you will end up with 6 attached bracket orders if you use Ctrl-B after that.

This odd behavior stops once TWS is closed and restarted.

This was addressed a while back; I just verified that TWS 9241a (current production build) has this fix. If you still have this problem please PM me, thanks.

Why does IB have different symbols for instruments accessed via DDE and API?

Specifically: SPY options symbols embed 3/16/2012 date in DDE symbols and 3/17/2012 for API symbols. This only causes confusion and errors.

Why is DDE for quotes faster? Appears DDE is not saddled by API 50 message/second limits.

All screens just went into the Pink Screen of Death. Arghh. I guess IB decided to reboot their servers during the middle of the market session.

Ameritrade has had a major Level 2 stalling bug for two months (the servers used in QuoteTracker and their own online garbage app)

They all suck.

IB API bug?

I had a limit order for an ASX stock sitting in the book today [a price time priority book].

It sat in the queue for about 7 mins, and as it was working through, it was suddenly removed, and re-added, meaning it ended up at the back of the queue.

This did not come from me.

I can see my order because I use a data feed that shows individual orders on each price step, not the IB feed.

When the issue occurred, I received several “SUBMITTED” status updates from the API.

So, my question is basically, what did IB do here & how can I make it never happen again?

This was a directed order.

In optiontrader I had a partially filled order, 4 of 10 lots. I wanted to put an order in another month but no order line came up when I clicked on the bid. I had to right click and choose trade/order entry. I could get two order entry lines up in different months without submitting the orders.

Another day, different stock, same interactive brokers execution error.

Limit order placed at 3:08pm.

Order’s working its way through the queue.

At 3:34pm, order is mysteriously cancelled and replaced, now at the back of the queue.

What’s going on ?

This was a directed order.

UPDATE:

Received some excellent customer service on this issue.

Hopefully resolved soon.
