Interactive Brokers just removed $100,000+ from my account

hmmm, first the dude is missing $100k - now he gloats over how he only made $2,300 today - and would have made more if not for this issue. Sounds a bit like a long con.

My account fluctuates 2-15k per day. I only posted this, so hopefully IB would realize that errors like this might have larger consequences than just one pissed customer. I rarely post to Elite -- generally too busy trading -- but I think you could search to find a few of my posts over past few years, and realize I'm real.

A previous poster asked you to say how the missing funds were accounted for on your daily statements.

Thats the first thing i would do, track down on which day the money went missing.

eg Was there a trade that was incorrect leading to an incorrect loss of 100K from you account? Or was there an unkown funds transfer etc

k - It was just pulling your chain - you went from the worst case scenario of losing $100K to thinking about unrealized profits - can't blame you for that. Glad you got the problem resolved so quickly. I could not find any bug notifications related to account balances - that is really odd.

There was no statement to mis-read; my TE was $100k lower, from "Account," which I keep open, on one of my 12 LCD screens; several for IB; most of Sierra Charts. I did check in "Trades," if someone an execution had a really bad price, but not the case.

Oh it was just an error on the account page in TWS.
Really you want to check in account management before you claim money has been 'removed',
Your broker incorrectly reporting your account balance due to a bug is not the same as them removing money from your account.
You really want to see a suspect transaction in your account history before you make a claim that money has been 'removed'

Yes, it was/is odd. As I said above, this all occurred within about 2 hours, during the day. I'll check tomorrow, to see if there was anything on the daily statement.

If someone wants to make it worth my while (min $1000) I could forward an mp3 file, with my recording of conversation today with IB customer support, which will verify my statements above. (I will need to edit file, as it contains security info, so IB knew it was me calling.) I've used below service for about 5 years, to record certain impt. phone conversations: financial, medical, legal. I can download the resulting mp3 file, a couple of minutes after the phone call is finished.

I had checked in Acct Mgmt: Acct balance was $105,000 less than it should have been. Checking Funds, there was no activity. Yes, it may have been a simple coding error, but whatever happened, my balance was lower than it should have been.

FINAL WORD (hopefully:)
Just rec'd this, via e-mail, from IB support:

While I am not sure of the cause of today's issue, your account value should now be correct. This is currently being reviewed by our programmers, and if I am made aware of any new information I will provide it through this ticket.

Please accept my sincere apologies for this occurrence.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
