As has been shown here, the ID/Creationists often use Appeal to Authority in place of evidence, proof or even discussion. We have shown that this blind faith in authority figures is in fact consistent with fanatical religious faith. In fact an ability to shut ones eyes to the real world and accept as truth something that is unproven, unprovable, unseeable and untestable is the main prerequisite for faith in ID/C. It is not necessary to personally show any proof - it is enough that So and So said it was proved. It is not not necessary for the adherent to even attempt to understand or internalize the arguments. Thus we get situations like the one which occurred in this thread, in which an adherent was caught quoting a scientist out of context. In that case it was shown that the adherent hadn't even read the authority he was appealing to.
It is also not necessary for the faithful to question the received word of God. God is the Creator and the Bible says so. Any questions?
This is, of course, unless we are dealing with those ID/C faithful who believe in the 'Aliens from Planet X9 seeded Earth with Life' camp.
jem dislikes it when I point out uncomfortable truths about the ID/C movement and inconsistencies in the posts of the believers. He hated it when I pointed out that Teleologist had claimed to have empirical evidence of design and then when pressed for it, folded like a cheap suit and mumbled something about 'you guys wouldn't believe me anyway' and skulked off.
He also hated it when I pointed out that this website's leading Troll is one of the most vocal supporters of ID/C.
He also hated it when I pointed out that we had an example in this very thread of a situation in which one of the faithful tried quoting a scientist and was then shown to have not even read the text he was quoting, instead doing a Google search and cutting and pasting. kjkent owned the guy 'but good' and he didn't come around here for a long time after that.
I'm sure he would hate it even more if I pointed out that we have just heard that the universe 'APPEARS' designed but a mud puddle DOES NOT appear designed. This stunning bit of contradiction is unexpected even from the believers (at least it would be had we not seen the example of intellectual plagiarism I mentioned earlier).

by the way trollnik. Your discredited foolish hero-kj did a disappearing act after he did some research on me. He confirmed I was an attorney and then he made a childish threat that no lawyer would make.
So after doing a little research i asked him where he was licensed. He soon disappeared to be never heard from again. He is probably a paralegal who realized he could lose his job for posing as a lawyer -- IMHO.
If he does come back and prove he was licensed at the time he claimed to be a lawyer - I will say I was wrong. He may not be a paralegal pretending he is a lawyer but he sure acted like one.

With regard to recognizing science - we have shown in this thread that the faithful claim that the statement 'The Earth appears designed to me' is science. We have pointed out that this is the equivalent of saying 'Genesis appears to be a true account of the Creation of Life on Earth to me, so I am going forward on the assumption that it is true'.
The ID/Creationsist here have never been able to provide one shred of empirical evidence for ID/Creation. I defy you now, here to provide a link to anything which even remotely resembles proof of ID. I do not mean some Christian scientist saying 'The Earth appears to be designed to me'.
Until you can do this, you are just another myopic believer who is now resorting to ad hominem because he can't win a debating point. I have admitted that I was wrong in these threads in the past and I am man enough to do it again if shown to be wrong. You, on the other hand, are a wannabe who finds it necessary to subtly include clues that you are an attorney in your posts. Why is that, jem? Don't you realize that it makes you look like a fool?
