It's an interesting question, but I believe your premise is faulty. You seem to be suggesting that the House is colluding with the current president. There's no evidence of that at all.

The mere fact that Devin Nunes, chair of the House committee, is in regular communication with the White House is inappropriate behavior. The investigative body is supposed to be independent of the parties being investigated.
But its okay for Rosenstein to run over there as needed and try to get Trump to stop the release of the memo, knowing full well that he basically asking the President to reverse the decision of congressional committee that has oversight over Rosenstein and knowing that Rosenstein is begging everyone and everything for protection.
Nunes has reason to believe that the FBI was hiding material and doing illegal acts/such as the dossier and he has oversight over the Justice Department and he reported it to the boss of the Justice Department, the President. It's messy. The solution was for the fbi/justice department to release the info that they stonewalled on and to complete business in closed session or open where possible. That is spilt milk now.

Two sources directly involved in the process say the GOP-authored House Intelligence Committee memo will not be released Thursday. The plan now is for the White House to return the memo – with redactions approved in consultation with the FBI – to the Intelligence Committee Friday.
The memo will not be released by the White House. House Intelligence Committee Republicans will determine the timetable and procedure for making the memo public.
The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee is objecting to the memo's release, claiming Wednesday there were "material changes" made to the memo after the committee voted on its release, but before the Republican majority sent the memo to the White House for review earlier this week. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-California demanded another vote be held on the release of what he's referring to as the "modified document." Schiff wants the memo, as delivered to the White House, be withdrawn and proposed that a new vote be held on Monday, Feb. 5.
In a Washington Post op-ed, Schiff also raised the specter of a constitutional crisis over the majority's move to release the memo, "by setting the stage for subsequent actions by the White House to fire Mueller or, as now seems more likely, Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, an act that would echo the 1973 Saturday Night Massacre."

However, I think it would be a political mistake to fire Mueller.
The dems and Rosenstein are dragging out the release with procedural games.
Maybe it will work, maybe it wont. I never bet against Rosenstein as Swampmeister but I not betting on him either.
The downside for the dems if it goes back to committee and is reapproved then they lose their bitching rights. You know, their current position is that if there were changes and it is still released then it is a HUGE injustice. But the republiicans still have a majority in the committee and if it goes back and they approve it, then the dems have to live with it. And maybe trump gave Wray something to keep him happy or to at least show that he listened to him.
Gonna be tough though to try to stuff the entire genie back into the bottle. You can't just tell the people that there is a bombshell of info that would rattle the country if the people every saw it, then just say "you aren't gonna see it." Good luck wit dat.
The other thing of course is that -even if some things get redacted- trump has seen the unredacted report and as president he can declassify ANYTHING. Most likely Rod will keep that in mind, fearing what could suddenly be declassified if he goes too far off the reservation or if Trump has to testify anywhere.
