Floyd riots were more about how nothing is done when a Black guy is killed...
Let's not forget that without the video tape of the incident, the official report was Floyd had a medical indicdent while being arrested so Chaivin would have basically gotten away with murder. The cops did not do shit, it was public outcry that got the cops arrested and tried for murder.
This case you cite is a white women getting killed and just on the facts the cop is sentenced to the MAXIMUM penalty for his crime.....
57 months was the maximum penalty allowed for this level of manslaughter so justice was served pretty swiftly and to the maximum extent of the law WITHOUT any video or public protest required.
Now the fact that the law says he can get out in the middle of next year..not much that can be done as that is part of the sentencing law.
Clearly there is a difference still in how these cases are prosecuted.

When will we have a national reform to provide much better training so cops of all colors and shapes stop committing assaults and murders from poor reactions and lack of training... Cops violate the constitution repeatedly and they still go through the same shitty police academy before being handed a gun and a free pass to violate the constitution.

Correct. That is what I said and what my point was. Different response when white woman killed by "of color" officer.

Correct. But maximum penalty for the crime that he was charged with. Versus what a white officer killing a black woman would have been charged with, and even aside from that my point was not just about the legality but about the public response, the lawyering aside. I have not checked but are we rioting in the streets and burning Minneapolis down today? Is Ilhan Omar out there histrionically decrying excessive force by black ethnic Somali officers? I will have to check later.
To be fair the office in this case responded to a call and shot down an alley. He did not drag the white woman down and knee her in the back for 8 minutes so the fact patterns are pretty different. The Somali officer heard a scream in the alley and fired a warning shot and ended up hitting the victim negligently. I can understand why his sentence was limited to a max of 4-5 years for that type of manslaughter.
Chauvin was on the mans neck for 8 minutes and could have got off at any time. It was not a split second firing of the weapon.

She banged on the side of car in frightened state of mind to get their attention and the officer was on the passenger side and fired across the front seat past his partner and killed her right there. No threat whatsoever from her other than the banging on the car and she was only trying to report a rape in progress as she perceived it. She was unarmed and had not brandished any objects.
Not sure where your assertion that he shot down an alley comes into play unless you are saying that the car that she was standing next to was in an alley or the bullet passed through her and went down an alley.
What I mean is the charge was not as high as in the chauvin case because he did not take time to assess and then despite no threat he still shot. He shot immediately in the situation of someone approaching the car so it was harder to get a higher murder charge in court. They could only prove high level of negligence and manslaughter rather than the depraved indifference they got in Chauvin.
sometimes the facts dont let you go for the higher charge.
But in both cases the $$ payout clearly reinforces the fact that these cops are shit trained and all of these murders can be reduced significantly rather than spending money on judgments.
Yeh, I get all that and have no raised any issue around the disposition of those cases. The Minneapolis cop fired reflexively out of fear for his life. Even if he was untrained, misquided and his experienced partner there did not feel the fear. That was nevertheless his motivation when assessing the charge. In contrast Chauvin (who you single out but i did not. there has been a pile of cases) ruminated to the point that it constitutes pre-meditation and he had no real basis for fearing for his life when using that amount of force- among other things Floyd was handcuffed at the time. I have not raised any issue with that and I fully get the complexities involved in making charging and plead deal agreements, if any.
But you have responded to a different issue that I raised.
My point was simply that if a white officer shoots and unarmed black woman making a 911 complaint with no weapon or confusing object on her person then that town is going to burn and there will be massive protests calling for a homicide charge even before the defendant is booked, while he is awaiting trial, during the trial, and after the trial. Non-stop. The Vice President might even show up. The underlying facts beyond the simple fact that the officer was white and the defendant black and unarmed are all that is needed. No need to get into all that other stuff. The protests and burning are going to occur even if other things will or will not be proven at trial.
But.....if the officer is black and the unarmed woman is white.....welll........you know......there are not going to be any protests or calls for homicide charges right there on the street as it is burning and before the defendant has even been arraigned.

I understand your point but my contention is justice moved.pretty swift and cleanly against the Black officer while it takes so.much pressure to get something done when a black person dies.
Dont get me wrong..the reaction after Floyd was wrong no matter how angry people were. The video was out and nothing more needed. Marches..ok... the.violence and destruction counter productive and stole the limelight. No protest is needed..let justice do its thing but with out video evidence Chaivin walks as does the cop who shot the guy in the back and then lied about it.
Black cop was charged with no video testimony needed. Without video evidence from civilians..Chauvin never sees the inside of a court.
So when the Black cop kills a white.woman..white people dont have to march and protest because they are getting justice served often.
That was my point for distinguishing. In Chauvin case we already know the cops lied and ONLY the video release stopped it and caused and uproar. When the Somali.guy shot the woman it was almost and open and shut case with non witnesses other than another cop.
