Inherited

Quote from bugscoe:

And he's yet to address the nation on this historic moment in his presidency.
And, he just loves to come out and talk about himself and how everything he does is so great. This is a great accomplishment for the President. One more knife in the back of America by our Marxist In Chief.

Good point and it would be nice if one of our liberal friends would remind us how much lower our debt is since 2007.

Anyone?

Good points on Congress overspending also.

AAA ratings maybe worse than some thought;
lower gas prices were also inherited. Gas prices are now higher than years ago, oil drilling permits are lower.

Cant really blame a bear trend on one person;
Congress overspent as mentioned before.

Silver & gold , indium ...are up over he past years;
but that mostly private sector/public co prices.

:D

Quote from PocketChange:

Funny how the blame game gets played out. Obama is the chief and ultimately gets credit or takes the fall but reality is this downgrade is a result of congressional gridlock. Congress is responsible for taxing and spending and not the President.

Blame to be shared, I think.

The prez proposes a budget. Congress mostly rubber-stamps it.

If the prez proposes a "let's not spend much more than we take in taxes", that's what we get. If he proposes, "let's borrow and spend ourselves into oblivion", we get that.

Bush [Emperor wannabe] proposed excessive spending on his own private wars. Odumbo [too many possible adjectives for him... none complementary... don't know which is correct] wants to DOUBLE our 230-year national debt in only one term... on social spending to his constituency to buy votes for 2012.

Both very harmful to the country. Both very wrong. And Congress let them both have their way... shame, shame.

No need for that, when he retires he can write a couple dozen books explaining what a great president he was like Jimmy Carter did/does...

Quote from Ricter:

I guess you missed the reply I made re debt servicing. And it's not just Krugman's assessment, I can provide links if you like to other sources, just out now, which also respond to the S&P downgrade. Not to mention the rate on 10-year notes. You're focusing on the wrong problem.

ricter, there is no way to view this problem any other way than the fact that Obama stated he would veto any program which attempted to put us on a path to a balanced budget. He and the dems would only vote for fake cuts off fake assumptions.

Unfortunately they got a bunch of rinos to sell out the nation of tax payers.

Luckily S&P said enough of this bullshit.... we won't be cheerleaders as democrats attempt to reset the constitution by collapsing the nation through crazy spending.
