Beautiful short at your 876.75 level as well!

So… long at 841.50, taking 5 ticks of heat and picking up a nice profit; about 30 mins later, short at 876.75, again with 5 ticks of heat.

Please tell me: the only 876.75 level I can see (based on a 2-week, 1-hour chart) is the high of the 02:00 to 03:00 bar this morning. Is this, on its own, enough to call it a level or was there some other price confirmation that I’m missing?

As for the 841.50 level, I can’t see it at all. Where did you pick this level from?

I’m starting to think you’ve got a special monitor where you can extend further to the right-hand side of your charts than the rest of us!! :D

Thanks mate, im glad so many people are finding benefit, thanks everyone for your emails.

876.75 - Thats right, the level is from this morning, I chose it because it stood out to me a green candle with a wick albeit it a small one in a sea of red.

The levels I send out in the morning are not the complete levels, they are based mainly on action from the previous day, intra day S/R levels are constantly evolving. I am adding and removing levels throughout the day. Lately we have been in a truly 24hr market, and I have been trading at various different times in the day and night.

841.50 - you can find that on your 4hr chart, its one of the 2 long wicks on 10/10

These are wild times and although I am generally risk averse its been very enjoyable watching and trading a very important time in economic history. We will remember these days for a long time to come.

We hit 50000 views of the thread today, not bad for only a few weeks. Thanks everyone for your support and good trading all.

Aaahhhh... now I see it, thanks. I wasn't going back far enough. I also saw your 837 level a few hours earlier on the same day.

Potential Lightbulb

I have been practicing to figure how to get the S/R levels ESR uses. I have been testing over and over and I think this is the best way to come up with a good portion of his lines.

1. Look at a 4hr chart that is around 15 days in data and pick out the very obvious lines. Usually around 2 or 3. Major candlestick wicks.

2. Show a 1hr chart and use about 3-4 days of prior trading and pick out the obvious levels. Major candle wicks and look for 2 supporting instances if possible.

This has been mentioned on this thread, but I was getting confused when it would go back several years and even months. I noticed this approach is able to snag a good portion of the levels. Sorry if I am Captain Obvious on this one.
 
I'm curious if you all make new S/R lines during the day? Often I find them while trading and then later on (sometimes an hour later, sometimes towards the end of the session) price will bounce off these lines. It's pretty cool.

I'm wondering what the priority is on all these, if some have more priority than others. If a new one has more priority than an old one. If price has failed at resistance for 2 times, is the third time the charm? Do they wear down or get stronger?

I keep playing with it, not just on ES but other markets as well. It's a lot of fun and has already improved my trading. Before I used channels and sometimes I didn't know why price would just stop. Now I know.

Good point Barbeque. VAL was 3 ticks higher than the level noted. I guess this would have made the trade even more sure.

Some nice images there ESR, very soothing.

I don't have that kind of luxury: when I'm trading, I usually have one eye on my charts, and the other on Bloomberg... and with one ear on Bloomberg and the other on the Wife and Kids!! :eek:

G'day xburbx. As you say, it has already been mentioned, but the most obvious things can always bear being repeated so they're not overlooked.

I've read through this entire thread three times so far and, as I mentioned in a recent post, I'm still not seeing all the levels... so keep repeating the obvious until it's second nature.
