India unveils $30 laptop

i would you appreciate, if guys from india tell us how many air powered cars are currently running on their streets. remember that story? my point is simple-you can unveil whatever you want..at whatever price..the real question is -how many will be produced and how this thing is going to work for customers. i see lines for ipods\pads..is it going to be same massive production and success?
 
Meraki based Wifi has a nice install base in India spreading rapidly. They already have achieved similar price clipping with medicines and in their health care industry. ie. $2K heart transplants rs 10000. $0.20 viagra rs 10.

Cloud enabled computers are going to be the calculators for the next generation. ie. cheap solar calcs available at every dollar store.
 
This is way beyond awesome. $35 is an incredible price really. If they can/do produce it in numbers it's nearly certain to be a success unless it's really, really unusably s***.

The fatcats in the West on their multi million $ salaries should be getting worried. Some others are prepared to produce products that are more customer friendly.

I expect it will be banned in the West by high tarriffs and other unfair practices, by "bought" politicians tho

I wish India would do more talk less. India's neighbor china seems to have the opposite problem, talk little do lots. I have dealt quite a bit with Indian software houses (since 1995) and it seems to me they have lots of chiefs.

Take for example the nano. I love the entire concept. There is quite a bit more to the nano than price. Yet the execution of the nano just sucks.
