Finally someone sees the main point. This is a battle for the future. While our youth walk down the street with their hair long & pants hanging off their buts away from the schools their counterparts walk bare foot to school and learn to become scholars. Fast forward 10 years and our 14 year olds can't compete. Unless we invest in our future we will be far behind.

All this while we profit from a high prison system that is a billion dollar industry. Ipads should be leased to schools at 5 per month for 15 years. Every parent can afford it. That's one less beer per month.

They are outsourcing all parts from China, but the funny thing is even the assembling has been given to a British company. Easy way for the ministers to make money out of contracts!
 
The misplaced enthusiasm for Kapil Sibal’s subsidy for the Aakash tablet computer stems from a lack of understanding of the role of politicians in the economy. Not only is Sibal’s effort doomed to fail and get mired in corruption like any other government scheme, but it is also an example of the government interfering in the markets, which is a regressive step that takes the country back towards socialism.

The worst aspect of this programme is that it robs the poor to subsidise relatively wealthier people who can afford to buy the assembled gadget. That it is touted as an effort to help children by furthering their education should fool no one.

Has anyone used this device yet? Just curious. I would pass because of Droid 2.2 and unsure of malicious code. That's prob. just FUD anyway though.
 
The thing is cheap and it runs Android. There is very, very much content available via Android, you download an app, pay for the content, etc... all it has to do is run fast enough to play a video and all Android machines can do that so far, the processing power to do that is proven and ubiquitous... Maybe Ballywood films will be available via an android app [are they already?] Some of those are very entertaining flicks for sure..

I'd like to know what the viewing experience is, what is the screen resolution, how accurate are the colors, how fast can the display pixels change, etc.. My guess is that you plug in some headphones and really could enjoy a movie. I've watched movies on my Galaxy S phone with headphones and I was into the flick totally..
