Index futures scalping

I had no problem waiting for a few days for profits to materialize, but I think this scalping could be a more profitable strategy for me long-term.

What I bring to the table that many traders cannot is a large bank account. That way, I can make a small relative percentage of my account and still have it make a difference in my daily life.

I would even consider going down from 1 point to 0.25 points.
Hello farmerjohn1324,

Yes, scalping is more profitable and rewarding long term. Best to keep the life simple and get the small point on ES, so your account grow over time. This is what I do and keep my day and life simple.

If you work too hard for too long, you end up nowhere and running in circles and the years past by.

Best to keep it simple.

How long have you been consistently profitably scalping ES? And how many contracts do you do?

Sorry, but no, no, no and no.

You need bigger wins and smaller losses, not more wins than losses.
Win rate by itself means nothing (except maybe give you the illusion that you are making money, until you don't!).
Getting a high win rate is very easy (I can give you losing strategies with 97% win rate!).
The best way to make money almost every day, but to lose it all at some point, is to do what farmerjohn is currently doing (but trying to solve).
Hello rb7,

Just my opinion, but everyone has to trade a way that makes them happy day to day. Rather it be high or low win rate style of trading.

Lol I was in the middle of "chickening out" and moving my TP to 3766 because it had went up to 3774. But before I could edit my TP, it hit 3765 for a $675 profit.

If you can be comfortable with a gain like that for a few minutes of work, you will have a great trading life...As long as you stop trading once you have nailed that profit.

But if you go the other way, and dig yourself into a hole by scalping for just a few ticks each time with a 1x1 RR, you will eventually burn out on the charts, trying to dig yourself out of holes you find yourself in.

You sound like you have found a somewhat-steady path for yourself. Just know that you can get lost in the weeds and de-evolve into an over-trading situation when things go south. Bad spiral to be in.

may work on demo account ...but you WILL blow real account do to slippage fees and crazy moves that fills your order way out....trust me done it many many years ago... over leveraged trading is never god!!! there is a term for it ...picking up pennies in front of steamroller!!! just my 2 cents gooood luck

What's your strategy nowadays?

Risking 12 points to make 1 is the road to ruin regardless of your short term PnL, it's only a matter of time. Flip it around so that your risking 1 to make 12 and you can have a 20% win rate while getting rich without risking ruin.

Trading without a loss exit will destroy your peace of mind & broker account. Not judging, been there done that. Just hoping to enlighten.

the most successful trader that i know of told me once that mvp's are guys who tap singles not home runs.

a man once told me "figure out a way to make a dollar, do it a million times and you'll have a million dollars"

another guy i know would put his house up as collateral if he thought he could gain a bicycle.

High probability trades can equal a lot of money if there's a large account.
