Temps are rising, in the oceans, as the new instruments being deployed there are confirming. New wind directions, sunlight striking now dark but formerly reflective, ice covered areas, and melt water (which is higher energy than ice) are conveying heat to the oceans.
Bottom line. The temp rise has been well within the range of models. That's all one needs to know.
Since 1990, global surface temperatures have warmed at a rate of about 0.15°C per decade, within the range of model projections of about 0.10 to 0.35°C per decade. As the IPCC notes,
A MORE RECENT STUDY BY NASA FINDS:
- GLOBAL WARMING HAS SLOWED
- IT IS A MYSTERY TO NASA WITH RESPECT TO WHY IT HAS SLOWED
- TEMP IN TOP HALF OF WORLD'S OCEANS ARE NOT CLIMBING FAST ENOUGH TO ACCOUNT FOR STALLED AIR TEMPS
- WARMING IN DEEP OCEAN IS NOT CAUSING SEA LEVEL RISE
- WATER TEMP IN DEEP OCEAN HASN'T RISEN SINCE 2005
- AIR TEMPERATURES HAVE STALLED
So what? AGW is still a fact and huge problem that is going to get much worse unless we change our ways.
And global warming has not slowed, it is speeding up. The heat is going into the oceans.
