I just did a quick search, and it seems that campus squirrels are A Thing(tm). On many campuses, they make handy experimental subjects - and given the students' propensity to eat fast food and toss the leftovers to these rodents, they often get fat.
(But yeah, they're rodents - and they get aggressive if they get rabies.)
