Well first off, it doesnât matter if youâre the best janitor in the world, if your employer doesnât give a crap about you, your getting paid just enough so you donât quit. Even then thereâs no guarantees you wonât be insourced or outsourced to save a buck for the bottom line. No I was just using title based compensation as an example. Obviously in a Socialistic system, higher qualified people will still get paid more. I'm just pointing how stupid these Republican slogans are about "running out of other people's money to spend." You know, as if the gov is just gonna hand us all checks from the rich no matter what we do. Do you think thatâs the way it works in Cuba? You think the gov there gives everybody the same money regardless of how well they did their job?Quote from bevo96:
So what you are suggesting is we institute title based compensation? If you are a janitor you make X dollars a year. It does not matter if you are the greatest janitor in the world or you sit on your mop bucket all day long? As long as you show up, you get paid.
What will ever drive innovation? Everyone will revert to the BARE MINIMUM EFFORT just to keep their job once they realize that effort and performance are rewarded equally with laziness as everyone knows its much easier to just be lazy.
I worked for the federal government a few months ago on a temp job. We all got paid the same and there was really no room for advancement. In fact for the most part we were kept in the dark about things. Personally I thought I did a little better job than most just because it was sort of in an area I was familiar with. I wasnât the best either. But you know what? We all pretty much did our jobs the best and fastest we could. You want to know why? Because we were told that if you didnât, youâre getting fired. And a few people were. Almost everyday they were on us about this or that and they sure kept us inline. We were also on the honor system about our time clock, but you can bet nobody there was fudging their numbers because we knew they were watching. So I ask you, how would a Socialist system be any different?
