Inbox notification? (PM Inbox)

Not sure if this is something new starting when I switched to an iPhone or if it is something new with the recent version of site software however I thought there used to be a little icon that alerts to the number of unread messages in your inbox.

I'm not on the site all that much but I find that I miss PMs often. Am I missing a setting or did something change?

There was a sentence on the homepage and forum index page which indicated the number of unread PMs. Because of a recent software change, that feature is not currently available, but it will be very soon.
