To the government...its not a lockdown and they use the word "restrictions". Yet, keep in mind that the government passed the law several months ago to allow it to use a "lockdown" if / when needed.

To the people...it feels like a lockdown and the increasing protests, increasing suicides, increasing anger is because they're reacting as if its a lockdown.

Not anything to debate about about the difference in perspective by the Swedish government versus the Swedish people.

Yet, it's very obvious that if / when the government does a lockdown...they will call it a lockdown.

Let's be very clear the nonsense you have advocated such as "no lockdowns", "only lockdown the at-risk", "natural herd immunity" and the "Great Barrington Declaration" have conclusively proven to be dismal failures.. All of these failed ideas which cost many lives have been buried in the dustbin of history.

Let's not forget those tourism marketing videos by the Swedish government almost bragging about their "lockdown lite"...inviting the world to come to Sweden.

I suspect it was videos like that...they seduced many Americans as in the grass is greener somewhere else.

Unfortunately, the world payed attention...many people left their lockdown country and went to Sweden. Now after restrictions, border closures....the grass is not so green over there. There are now growing protests, increasing suicides, increasing anger...scary aspect...the Swedish government still has not used a lockdown similar to the EU.

Going forward...vaccinated herd immunity is the current way to go and its working. Working so well...some states have stupidity remove their restrictions before they are fully vaccinated...not even close to 70% vaccinated.

I'm expecting many countries will remove all their restrictions when they reached 50% vaccinated herd immunity via the assuming 20% have been infected with Covid. Thus, 50% vaccinated herd immunity and 20% natural herd immunity after surviving a prior Covid infection.

I'm convinced that if Sweden's Natural Herd Immunity experiment had been successful...the Swedish people, Swedish health officials, Swedish government, Tegnell and individuals in this thread will be announcing in triumph its success.

Sadly, we had a few assholes in this thread, in the other Sweden thread and in their own thread...they announced United States had reached Natural Herd Immunity early fall or late summer of last year...

You have argued for non data based insanity...you are the quack.
What I have argued for has performed just as well if not better.
Europe has to lockdown again... non lockdown places... may yet not have to lockdown. The best your position can do at this point in time is fail or tie.



For thousands of years the status quo has been open.
For thousands of years we have strived to protect the high risk.
We would not be here if these strategies, including herd immunity, had not been successful in past...you idiot.

Of course herd immunity is real .. if it were not... there would be no people.
Can we improve upon herd immunity... yes.
That is why I have argued the thing to do was educated and protect the high risk better. But for those for which this is likely the flu... they should get to choose within reason to be out of lockdown... subject to reasonable precautions which have been shown to work... such as distancing.

I will also note that 50% vaccinated herd immunity is the point where the spread of a disease starts slowing in a population based on all basic models. Increasing vaccinations beyond 50% in a population have the beneficial effect of further slowing spread until you reach the point where spread effectively stops (aka "herd immunity").

Vaccination Herd Immunity is working...record number of people are being vaccinated. Most states Covid numbers are manageable now that a few of them had removed their restrictions while knowing their more vulnerable population are being vaccinated before the less vulnerable population.

By end of 2021...North America should be at / near Vaccinated Herd Immunity.

Those that don't want to be vaccinated...that's their choice but they must own the consequences of making that decision.

Today, I heard for the first time a great plan for sports arenas in Florida. Some of the arenas will have designated sections for sports fans...sections for those vaccinated and a different section for those not vaccinated.

Everybody happy and gets to make their choice while enjoying the game.

P.S. I'm ex military...every place we went in the world...we had to be vaccinated because some countries has diseases that you do not want to become infected with.

Also, I grew up in a military family...schools on bases abroad...all the kids were require to be vaccinated. Those living off base...most of those primary schools required vaccination...

I am merely talking the basic computer models where they show a bunch of round dots representing people in a boxed area and show the spread of a disease. The point where it starts slowing is around 50% vaccination (no matter what R factor, etc.). This is driven by the math. Of course, in the real world the "model" varies based on population density, self-protective measures, and many other factors.

Science and data has proven I was correct... for instance...

a. We can get immunity (morons like gwb and probably you were giving him likes argued against that.... remember)
b. The non lockdown places have done as well as many of the lockdown places.
c. its almost axiomatic we should have done a better job protecting and educating the high risk... because they are they are 78% of the people in the hospitals and more that 95 % of the people dying (if I recall the stats from a few months ago)
d. vitamin D has also been shown to be very key to resistance to Covid.
e. There is no statistically significant outdoor spread
f. There is no statistically significant asymptomatic spread
g. masks have been shown in the danish and cdc studies to not protect the wearer...


non lockdown states and countries have performed as well as lockdown states and countries...

you can compare Sweden and Texas and Florida to
Some EU countries the USA and California.
