This is because OurWorldinData has switched over to "date of report" in their chart rather than date of death.... because they did not want to have to manually match up the date-of-death information when they switched to using John Hopkins rather than the European CDC. The information about this is provided at the url below.

"Unlike our previous source the European CDC, Johns Hopkins University collects and publishes COVID-19 deaths in Sweden by date of report."

This is why your chart is showing zero on days when there is not report and jumps up & down greatly.

Germany however is reporting seven days per week.... so you are not comparing similar data in your chart. It's apples and oranges.

They tried to manually reconcile to date of death... and then found it too much effort and gave up. After this they went to simply reporting the recorded deaths being presented by Sweden.

The country is instituting restrictions and lockdowns to deal with COVID. The era of "no lockdowns", "only lockdown the at-risk" and the "Great Barrington Declaration" is over. All of these failed ideas which cost many lives have been buried in the dustbin of history.

There are dozens and dozens of message posts in this thread by Covidiots that restrictions do not work...lockdowns do not work and face mask wear do not work.

Anyone checked out the past 2 weeks Covid-19 numbers of infections, hospitalization / ICUs and deaths...with the new more restrictions the past 2 weeks.

Why are they declining is restrictions (more restrictions) do not work ???

I think Covidiots are playing a "stupidity game" in which when the numbers go UP after re-opening...they say restrictions and lockdowns do not work. Worst, they ignore all the charts that showed from day 1 of the restrictions / lockdowns the numbers do in fact decline dramatically to verify that it does work.

Yet, after the re-opening process...does numbers slowly begin to INCREASE and then the Covidiots show up to blame the lockdowns (restrictions) and then blame the face mask in a country with a large % of its population that do not wear face masks

There needs to be face mask, social distancing, hand washing because if one of these key three variables are missing (not used) by individuals...it puts a ripple into the fight against Covid-19 that begins to spread widely into the population...

So wide, you'll reach these huge unmanageable surges in the hospital / ICUs and that then resorts in poor care or deaths in other situations due to shortage of doctors and nurses.

• Regardless, I saw pictures on the internet of children in Sweden (Stockholm) wearing face masks...who would have thought they finally understand that if a child is infected...the face mask minimizes the spread (viral load) of Covid-19 to adults or to someone that has an underlying medical condition.

Congrats to Sweden on getting control of their fight against Covid-19 because restrictions / lockdowns do in fact work.

FYI I met a guy this weekend...
Super smart guy but a true covidiot. Fearful.
Never leaves his house, sleeps and showers with a mask, hasn’t seen his grandkids without a plexiglass barrier in 9 months.
He’s been hiding in his basement since March.

All the sudden he says ‘fuck it’ and decides to do a personal training session. Both he and his trainer wore masks.
