In the Coronavirus Fight in Scandinavia, Sweden Stands Apart

Yes, they just opened up and it's spreading like crazy. The only solution is to isolate the infected communities from the outside world and everyone carefully follow safety precautions. You know, the kind of stuff dumb asses like you don't agree with because ... you're ignorant. Some of you just don't have the critical thinking skills to understand any of this. Hence you post data that says something quite different then what you think it is saying. Bit of a problem for those who have to enter the hot spots to teach or students who act responsibly and pass on things like crowded parties and bars during Covid.
What a fool. --Doesn't even read the number of hospitalizations at zero.--

Canada had a lock down with staged re-openings and it's worked. Death rates in Canada are not higher then Sweden. How convenient of you to ignore the realities of the world that don't support your narrative. Bottom line you can bs all you want but the US has far, far worse numbers then Canada or Sweden. The reasons for this are all related to the psyche oi many Americans like you.
Death rates in Sweden and Canada are exactly the same. ---Except for one thing----Current and ongoing death rates are much higher in Canada than Sweden. ---Sweden has beaten the virus. Canada has not.

You don't understand this topic at all. Remember when you said the massive outbreak in cases in Florida was ok because the daily deaths were capped at 40-50 ? And we told you that meant in 4-5 weeks the death rate would increase ? And then the death rate increased to 100-250 a day every day of the week ? That doesn't seem to have registered in that dense brain of yours.

But I understand the issue. You think everyone getting Covid is a good thing. You actually want every American getting this disease and a million Americans dead as a result.

Not true at all. Current Death rates in Canada and Sweden are almost identical, and neither has "beaten" the virus. And I would put serious money that the final death rate in Canada once the virus is beaten is LOWER then Sweden.

No. I don't recall that. What I do recall is saying that the pandemic, if indeed there was one, has been over for months. Herd Immunity is the proper way to go in my view and the low risk folks will have a very very low death rate. Sweden has done it correctly, except for allowing folks in nursing homes to pass.

Not surprising your memory fails you but it's in posting history so denying it won't get you anywhere. And if the pandemic is "over", why did thousands of people in Florida die in July and August ? I do understand the "flat earth" type form of reasoning you have; Covid would have to reach out and kill someone very close to you for you to even consider the reality here.

Well now. Clear winner.

Please show the posting where the following occurred----"(Remember when you said the massive outbreak in cases in Florida was ok because the daily deaths were capped at 40-50 ? And we told you that meant in 4-5 weeks the death rate would increase ?)"

Sweden probably doesn't have as many dumb ass college kids throwing COVID parties.

Sweden and other Scandinavian countries doing very well in this Pandemic overall even though Sweden is the worst of the Scandinavian countries...

All of which are socially responsible in comparison to the socially irresponsible idiots in the U.S. that has the U.S. a leader in poor performance for Covid-19.

Reminds me of a close friend from Indiana that believes wearing a condom impedes on his sex life when he picks up women at a local bar for one night flings...women he met for the first time the same night.

Grizzly Adams Redneck guy, NRA guy, militia guy, ex-military (Army Ranger buddy) and he's a No face mask guy.
  • Yeah, I see a pattern here but I'm confused because he's college educated.
Now he's hospitalized from Covid-19 (breathing problems) with Gonorrhea in a Indiana hospital. :(

Socially Irresponsibility

Seriously, statistics now showing up that the "No Face Mask" individuals that a large portion of them do not have college degrees. Looks like to me that education and common sense is a key ingredient to the good performance in a Pandemic.

Sweden Close To Victory Over Coronavirus; Never Had A Lockdown Or Mask Mandate

“Sweden has gone from being the country with the most infections in Europe to the safest one.”

  • As the rest of Europe and the world remains under the grip of draconian rules and the threat of new lockdowns, Sweden, which allowed its citizens to remain free throughout the entire pandemic, has pretty much declared victory over the coronavirus.

The country now has one of the lowest infection rates on the planet, and it’s difficult not to admire how it has handled the past year, with no strict lockdown or compulsory face mask rules. All businesses, schools and public places remained open in Sweden for the duration.

“Sweden has gone from being the country with the most infections in Europe to the safest one,” Sweden’s senior epidemiologist Dr. Anders Tegnell commented to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“What we see now is that the sustainable policy might be slower in getting results, but it will get results eventually,” Tegnell clarified.

“And then we also hope that the result will be more stable,” he added.

Tegnell previously warned that encouraging people to wear face masks is “very dangerous” because it gives a false sense of security but does not effectively stem the spread of the virus.

“The findings that have been produced through face masks are astonishingly weak, even though so many people around the world wear them,” Tengell has urged.

Last week, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control confirmed Sweden’s drop in infection rate, with only 12 cases per million, compared to 18 in neighbouring Denmark and 14 in nearby Norway.

At the peak of the Sweden’s outbreak, it was seeing 108 new infections per million people, as it pursued a “herd immunity” strategy.

The figures also show that out of 2500 randomly selected and tested people in Sweden, none tested positive, compared to 0.9 percent positive in April, and 0.3 percent in May.

“We interpret this as meaning there is not currently a widespread infection among people who do not have symptoms,” said Karin Tegmark, deputy head of the Public Health Agency of Sweden.

When compared to the rest of Europe, Sweden’s death rate sits somewhere in the middle. However, officials are confident that playing the long game will see this improve drastically.
