hmmmmm, but why, under what circumstances does a person create bigger negative issues (penetrate deeper into error) when on a path which was a winner?
Flumoxed, could be some wisdom here, can't recognise it atm.

Averaging down when the uptrend is not a retrace but a reversal. Doubling down yet again. Symetrical for both long and short. Bargain ticket for the train to the mother of all losses.

The above being due to the attachment to repeat what has worked before until the time it doesn’t work.

Addictive behavior follows this as well - futile attempts to return to the initial high, where there is dimishing rewards for repeating past behavior.

For me, when flummoxed, I’m looking at a blindspot. Ymmv
