In Praise Of Lady Gaga

I never thought I'd be writing this post. I fully expected some typical music industry virtue signaling attack on our President. I have to believe Gaga was under tremendous pressure to do exactly that. Instead, she played it down the middle and delivered a high energy, captivating performance that undoubtedly won her not only the gratitude of viewers but a lot of fans.

Let's face it, Gaga didn't get where she is because of her singing. She is the single best self-promoter since Madonna. I have to think she made a typically shrewd calculation and decided to go with MAGA and not BLM and anti-fa. Now let's just hope she doesn't ruin it by some idiotic tweeting or statements today.

I have never been a big fan of these faux concert halftime shows, complete with the fake crowd at stageside. In the future and in fervent hope that we avoid any more Beyoncé disasters with her BLM celebration last year, I think they should just let Bruno Mars handle it until he retires. He is a master showman, brings high energy performance and leaves politics out of it.

Still, it's not every day you see a 30 year old woman descend from the heavens on a cable. I was impressed. Just singing from atop that stadium took some nerve. Whatever else you might say about Lady Gaga, she has some brass balls.

Gaga is supremely talented with a great voice.
She's been interviewed on Howard several times. Always a great conversation. Open and honest. And then she sings and plays piano and it's usually very moving and impressive.

I know she was a CLINTON supporter and I too felt that she would politicize her performance.
I didn't see it (was doing something else during halftime) but heard she did terrific.

I'm a fan.

The moonbats are up in arms because she didnt rip Trump. I think it was an act of brilliance.

I didnt watch the halftime show but everyone who did seems to say she did a great job. If she had ripped Trump no one would be talking about the performance, they would be talking about her political statement. That would have done nothing for her career.

average vocalist; below average shock artist.

Sadly that's how childish people are now, they'll rip on someone's vocation because they don't align w/their politics. I despise Nuggent's stance on many issues, but I like his riffs. "Louie CK is an unfunny cuck cuz he criticized the lord emperor"; yeah OK pal.

Lady Gaga Halftime Show - Hidden Message

I didn't watch the show, but that is too funny she sang those songs back to back.
That's VERY political.

I'm surprised she did not include the following verse(below)... which Guthrie wrote into his original version but chose not to record... she must not have known about it, or she sure as hell would have put it in.

Springsteen regularly performs the song and as of late (in Australia this month), he includes the verse.

Subtle,... but its there.

"There was a big high wall there
that tried to stop me.
The sign was painted,
said 'Private Property.'
But on the backside,
it didn't say nothing.
This land was made for you and me".

And thats today's music trivia moment here at the forum formerly known as "P&R" . :D

I went to a Gaga concert a few years ago. She brought the house down with just a piano and her voice.
