In other news - France to finally set age of consent ---- to 13

Around that time a lot of confederate state conservatives were still democrats. They are overwhelmingly republican now.

Yes, they changed affiliation when the Democratic Party shifted their focus from helping the Blue Collar American worker and their families to fringe interests, saving trees, gay rights, etc.

Sort of interesting. The first time Roy Moore was appointed to a judgeship as a Republican was in 1992 to fill the term of a deceased judge. In 1994 he ran as a Republican for the first time for that judgeship. It was only in 1992 it appears that he changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican.

In all of his races prior 1992, Roy Moore ran as a Democrat (e.g. as a county's circuit-court judge seat in 1982, 1986 for DA, etc.).

So it is indeed true -- at the time of the allegations Roy Moore was a Democrat. What this has to do with anything in reality beyond bipartisan politics -- I don't know.

No,it was mostly because of civil rights. You know those racist confederate state whites didn't like that.

The "Southern Strategy" shift of conservatives in the South occurred in the 1960s and early 1970s according to all the left wing pundits. Not in the early 1990s when Roy Moore switched from being a Democrat to a Republican.

Some southern confederates took longer to switch than others.

Actually you are helping make a point that I have worked to make in the past. To this very day, many state-level Southern Democratic parties including the one in North Carolina are firmly divided into rural Democrats (think Judge Moore), and mainstream urban Democrats aligned with the national party. The split recently became so bad in our state that the overall state party went bankrupt during the leadership struggle and sold off their headquarters. Kay Hagan used the Wake County (Raleigh) Democratic party to run her Senate campaign on account of these state-level party problems.

While there has been a slow transfer of rural Democrats to the Republican party over the past three decades -- there are still many rural Democrats in southern states with stringent conservative biblical roots. Many of these Democrats have families with deep KKK roots (remember the traditional KKK does not accept Republicans as members - the organization was started to drive out the carpet-bagging Republicans), support conservative values, seemly push racist themes, and support confederate heritage -- but keep in mind these folks still supported Bill Clinton in national level elections. Bill was one of them, a good old boy from Arkansas -- from their perspective.

I see. So if they are cut from the same cloth, then we should expect to see the Hollywood liberals giving him awards and rising to their feet with applause when Moore is in their company.

That was fucking shameful.

I've been hoping for years The US got that prick back to The US to be prosecuted.
