In order for the EU to survive, it has to implement Fiscal Transfers

Spot on. Some Baltic cities are nowadays headquarters of several world renowned IT firms that specialize in corporate security and encryption algorithms. Where in Greece would this even be fathomable at the moment.

Yes I agree. In 1991 when Russia fell apart and Baltic and East European countries got their freedom again they were poorer than Greece was. Now Poland, Czech republic and some Baltic states are doing well. Why? Because they wanted to work. I am sure that not a single American multinational is interested in opening production facilities in Greece. For obvious reasons. The Baltic and East European countries never received any financial support with the magnitude of what Greece already received. But they did well, Greece crashed and continues to crash. They don't want to work. It is not the duty of Germany to bring a better mentality to the Greeks. The Greek government should do that. And if the circumstances are better their might be some companies who will be interested to invest there. But not in the actual situation. And an extreme left socialistic government is not quite ideal to attract foreign investors.

I might become a defender of Greek people!:rolleyes::)
It would be interesting to find out how many well qualified Greeks are working there.
What is failing Greece has been their tolerance for the deep corruption from their "oligarchs" : these became too greedy and took too much bankrupting their banks, then their country.

Certainly a big problem. A country that cannot earn taxes has been another problem.

It seems there is a pattern of pointing out - in proportion- the few 100s millions from the average Greek - while forgetting the 100s billions from the Greek oligrachs ( via bank loans,
government grants, etc...).
You might want to check the Bank for International Settlements early warnings about these
oligrach loans jeopardizing Greek banks.
What I am suspecting is then the Greek government basically bailed out the Greek banks,
without asking these giga loans to be repaid.

Just to remind some examples of Greek politicians ( actually basically all linked to "greek oligarch" families) corruption, and how they bankrupted Greece at the time:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...linked-to-550-million-Swiss-bank-account.html

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/.../How-UK-banks-could-pay-for-Greek-crisis.html

This was just one of them : here half a billion hidden via the mum, and they are only talking of one bank account. Damn!!!
And the son few months before was determined to keep a finance minister position.
This just to illustrates the effect of corruption - I mean the real one,
where basically politicians corrupt everything so as to racket a country
public coffers.

Now average Greeks are the one taking the brunt of critisms.
In a way they tolerated their leaders corruption.
Some would have asked for the guillotine!

Ya, that's right. It's a stealth take-over of Europe. Germany and France knew this would happen all along. Suckered in the weaker periphery with the lure of a stronger currency and enhanced borrowing capacity.

Impossible because Greeks don't want. Nitro I beg you, I plead with you, can we think this through for one momebt: manufacturing cars requires flexibility, shift work, holiday work , night work. It requires unions and worker representatives to not burn factories and kill executives but to work together with management to get things done. It requires a supply chain network that is efficient, infrastructure and people who do not arrive at work at 11am and take 3 hour lunch breaks between 2-5pm. It takes people with a can do attitude . Do you see any of thus in Greece? I don't. That is why tourism and olives are the only viable options.
I understand. What I am saying is, the EU and Greece need to stop the doubt. Erase their emotions and sit and decide together what they want to do. Germany should say, "Greece, we simply cannot afford to continue to give you money with no hope of ever getting payed. However, we value your membership. Here is a plan:"

Then they would lay out how the loan would be to start and to run an automotive company. "Manufacturing requires flexibility, shift work, holiday work , night work. It requires unions and worker representatives to not burn factories and kill executives but to work together with management to get things done. It requires a supply chain network that is efficient, infrastructure and people who arrive at work at 9:00 and take 2 hour lunch breaks between 1-3pm, then work until 6 PM. It takes people with a can do attitude." Or something along those lines written by a lawyer.

Then assuming Greece agrees to the loan only for the purpose of starting this new business, Germany would not only promise financial aid, but managerial aid. They would show the Greeks how to run the shop, show them how to use the CAD systems to design snazzy cars the world wants to buy (maybe the Italians are better employed for that). Germany would agree to reduce their involvement in the running of the business down to zero by say 2030.

Can you imagine if the Greeks marketed a car brand, let's call it Sparta. The models would have names like Athena. Can you imagine, assuming the car was well built and attractive, what woman in LULU spandex wouldn't want to be seen in an Athena? Another car name would be Hercules. This would be the truck to end all trucks, and to boot it would be a hybrid. Men around the world would be seen in Hercules trucks. OMG. Here is the Hercules add (with a truck somewhere in there):

Zeus would be the "7-series" for the CEO's. The ads would be some sort of play on 300. I see Euros falling from the sky.

Open your mind. Of course you can say non of this works. But progress is made by people that don't know any better and don't know it is impossible.

Nitro, all you said sounds great but you are 100% and entirely focusing on benefits to the Greeks again. What's in it for the Germans in this example? Other than of course giving away all their IP. What are you or the Greeks offering them in return?

I am sorry to have to enlighten you that creditors rather accept a debt cancellation than having someone relieve them of their crown jewels.
