In narrow ruling, Supreme Court gives victory to baker who refused to make cake for gay wedding

It is a shame they got the right decision with the wrong basis for it... It is still better than getting the wrong decision though... In reality, he shouldn't even have to justify why he refused to bake the cake. It is his own INDIVIDUAL decision... It doesn't matter if it is based on religious beliefs or not...

If I was his competition, I would certainly have no problem with this, as I would gladly welcome the income he refused to get for himself...

It is a shame that in the supposed "land of the free" this type of thing is happening today(especially because there are no other places where freedom actually rules anywhere else in the world)...

The radical post modern neomarxism, as Jordan Peterson rightfully describes it...

not anymore since we have laws against anti discrimination, hate speech etc

i disagree with those laws but we have them

You're right... It is more accurate to say: " It SHOULD BE his own individual decision..."

probably not

and let me explain why

he is in business, which is a public serving enterprise

if the this guy refuses gay based on religious(moral) grounds , the other one will refuse blacks based on his moral views and will put a sign "whites only", etc, etc

if it would be a private service enterprise like a private club, i do not mind if they refuse anyone they want

That I disagree... Since I'm talking about what SHOULD be... There should be no problem with a "white" only or "black" only or whatever color there is... The should be no problem with "gay" only, or "straight" only... Anyone should be able to decide who gets in their own private business... Just like people have to decide if people carrying guns can enter a private store or not, even in states where carrying it is allowed by law...

I personally think that any restriction whatsoever would be stupid and in "my bakery" anyone would be welcomed, because it makes no difference to me if the money comes from white or black, gay or straight person... The money is the same and has the same value and I'm there to make money...

But even though I think it is stupid to refuse money based on these issues, people should have the right to be stupid(or what I consider stupid) individually...

Plus, reality shows that in a free market, these signs tend not to exist.. As Thomas Sowell once said: "People may prefer this or that color/gender/whatever, but they tend to prefer themselves above all else." But if he can sustain this model of business even so, no problem... There will always be options for all, like in "my bakery".

The thing that really made use of these signs(slavery, segragation...) for a LONG LONG time was precisely what these neomarxist idiots are constantly recurring to for their claims: government. And as it was in the past and will be in the future, this has and will continue to have dire consequences.

His shop is struggling, but he is limiting his customers, and perhaps the number of days his shop is open, so perhaps he should find something else worthwhile to do. More in line with his economic beliefs and work schedule.

Once one is not the one to decide what happens in one's own private property/business and government takes that role absolutely (which is the final result of the path being discussed here). Then it isn't "private" anymore, but public, and the US can then simply add an extra "S" to it's name and become the USSA - "UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF AMERICA". :)

sowel is wrong

people prefer their morals to thier life, and they die for their morals

the question is should america legislate morals

it appear we do, as our laws is reflection of our morals

my problem is we beginning to have putin's type of a application of our laws and and morals: everything allowed to friends , strict law - to the enemies or opponents
