In a move that would make Lenin proud, Trump moves to nationalize telecom

We going full socialist.
Not really. Very far from it actually, but we are tending toward a version of fascism that is a little disturbing. What has been proposed in terms of building out a publicly owned 5g network and leasing access isn't necessarily a move in the direction of more corporate control of government, which I see as the worrisome thing going on right now.. What has been proposed, assuming it is being accurately reported, could result in greater consumer choice and less regulatory capture by a few big players. It all depends. The devil is in the details (and the White House). The reason Japan had HD TV more than twenty years before the U.S. had it, is precisely because the U.S. government would not step in and play their role as referee.. So providers wrangled for years over whose technology would prevail. There needs to be an unbiased referee. And the government is the logical one to play that role, but the government doesn't always do a good job of remaining unbiased, and there is a tendency to play favorites based on political contributions.
