Makes sense. Many don't speak the language or degrees don't transfer over so they're stuck in dead end jobs otherwise. Plus they've shown willingness to take risks by moving their whole lives here so what's one more risk. Oh, and credit, we have it so good compared to 3rd world shit holes.

Don't know, I was watching NBR on PBS and saw the report popped up after reporting of company profits. Maybe PBS thought there were too much anti-immigrant sentiments lately, so tried to balanced things out?

I am not quite sure all Americans agree with you that we are all immigrants. Only a small fractions among us were not born in the US and thus defined as immigrants by NBR.

Undocumented immigrants provide an enormous subsidy to the Social Security system in particular. Each year, Social Security taxes are withheld from billions of dollars in wages earned by workers whose names and Social Security numbers do not match the
records of the Social Security Administration (SSA).

According to the SSA, undocumented immigrants paid $13 billion in payroll taxes into the Social Security Trust Funds in 2010 alone. Tax payments by undocumented immigrants and their families are also sizable at the state and local levels. The Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) estimates that households headed by undocumented immigrants paid $11.6 billion in state and local taxes in 2013. Cities with higher immigrant populations have less crime and stronger economies as compare to those lowest in immigrant populations.

That is why the 200+ sanctuary cities would much rather prefer to work towards helping these immigrants achieve U.S. citizen status provided they are not committing crimes. Many are at various stages of working towards becoming legal citizens. To boot all of them out may help ensure our social security goes extinct much faster.

How does the SSA know who are these people, in particular that they are undocumented immigrants? Maybe this is just a typo on tax returns.

If it's a typo on a tax return than someone who already paid their SS taxes gets a bill for those taxes from the IRS. I don't know about you, but most of us give the IRS a call and fix the typo when the alternative is repaying our entire year's SS tax!
