IMHO: US sanctions help China and Russia, hurt US and Europe.

China becoming #1 will be accelerated by such US sanctions, b/c then China get's the sanctioned products cheaper and in full abundance.

For example EV parts, especially batteries: China can produce much cheaper than the West b/c China has access to cheap raw materials from Russia, the West no more due to its own sanctions --> West shooting itself in the foot, or head... :banghead:

This is according to Rosstat - Russian government agency. In May 2022 production of these products in Russia was reduced by:

Automobiles - 97%
Buses - 77%
Locomotives - 63%
Glass - 61%
Washing machines - 59%
Refrigerators - 58%
Railroad cars - 52%
Electric motors - 59%
Passenger railroad cars - 40%
Elevators - 35%
Pumps and compressors - 30%
 
Sanctions hurt Russia, but benefit countries willing to trade with Russia. China and India are getting oil at a discount. Rest of the world buys oil at a premium. So the net effect is that US and Europe are subsidizing China, India, and other countries willing to trade with Russia. US and Europe could correct that fast -- trade with Russia and we cut off all trade with you...but they can't do that...we have become too dependent. China and Russia knows that. I think this winter will get interesting.
 
US increases energy prices on its consumers by exporting its oil, forcing foreign support for the dollar.
We suffer from less buying power at home while the dollar is stronger abroad.
 
Wingnuts like the free marketplace of exporting oil except when they don't like the free marketplace of exporting oil. Meanwhile the price in the U.S. is still less expensive than almost any other place on the planet.
