Trump was attempting to negotiate with the Afghan President and the Taliban leadership. Not responding to extortion efforts by specific terrorists on the ground is/was the republican objection in the Bergdahl scenario.

Obama botched the situation on many levels. He tried to pass it off as a prisoner swap rather than a negotiating with terrorist scenario- and that might have been some merit to that if he had done that properly rather than just giving the Taliban what they wanted- their Dream Team in return for some fucked-up traitor.

It is relevant to note the even the independent inspector general for the defense department found that Obama was in violation because there was/is a specific statue on the books that says that the president MUST consult with Congress before trading or releasing any prisoners at GITMO. Barry of course just ignored that. He defended it by saying that Bird-dog was in IMMINENT DANGER of dying from his health issues. However, when Bird-dog arrived in Germany and had a full and complete physical it was determined that the only health problem he had was gingivitis- ie. gum disease. Yet he said that Bird-Dog's health was so critical that he did not have time to consult with Congress as the law required. Translation: No way Congress would have approved it.

Trump is not being extorted and he is dealing with senior leadership who want to discuss policy. When it looked like they were using threats/killings to ramp up the process, Trump basically said. "No, I am not doing that shit. Meeting cancelled." Entirely proper.

No equivalency with the Obama fiasco.

Oh, and of course, the Dream Team has been back killing Americans for many years now. Lucky for them, they had Obama negotiating for them.

To be frank, I'm a bit hazy on the Al-queda Taliban connection. My understanding is the Taliban are the ruling theocrats of Afghanistan and ended up becoming the defensive force of the US offensive. From recollection, they were the financiers of Al-queda and partook in "unconventional warfare" aka terrorism to fight the US forces?

Ahh, not exactly but comes out the same in the wash.

The Taliban are sort of the home-boys for Afghanistan, but they play on the same side with Al Queda. Taliban gets its money from opium sales, but Al queda does not need their money because they get plenty from the Saudis. Bin Laden and other Al Queda types were handing out in Afg just because it was beyond the reach of other governments so they could plan all their shiite there without any government interference. Al Queda likes to get around the region and the world to blow people up and kill them. The Taliban liked to stay close to Afg and parts of Pakistan and are not developing a lot of home-grown type elsewhere as Al Queda and Isis are. ISIS is sort of Son of Al queda. Some fighters morphed over to Isis, some had issues with ISIS for being so cruel that they ended out alienating even the muslims who supported al queda, and some are reinvigorating al queda while isis is down a bit, except they are getting up a bit. It changes every couple years depending on how much the Americans are suppressing one group versus another.

All of those cockroaches look the same in the dark and need to be killed.

But, I have never resisted the idea that all those scumbags and their UN buddies preferred Obama's give-em-what-they-want-so-I-can-be-loved-over-at-the-UN-and-by-the-French approach. Yep. They all want Barry back. I have never said otherwise.

Barack Obama gets a pass for everything he has done during his term in office. The extreme liberals Democrats claim Obamacare is so good even now, yet, they whine and cry about the rising premiums and deductibles? And seek all sorts of exemptions for unions? He got credit for the Iran nuclear deal when he gave the Iranians their monies without any sanctions for repeated violations of the terms of the Iran-US nuclear deal? Met numerous times (12 times) in the White House with the Russian ambassador called a spy by the Mueller report yet, no subpeona or investigation? Or selling US uranium to Russia who is deemed our enemies but, we sold our uranium to them to make nuclear bombs to use on the US? Again, for all the talk of Russian collusion, they investigators of Mueller never as much as interviewed Barack Obama?
