im Simons' Legendary Medallion Fund Up 36% In 2020, Expects More Volatility Ahead

But Universa doesn't have 66% annual return for the last two decades or whatever. LOL. Universa only makes money in a crisis black swan event and lose money most of the time.

I think that's the joke.

Simons long term performance is incredible. I know of a CTA - Quant from Bell Labs with a 10 year ROR of 43% & very shallow & brief draw-downs. This Quant has a pile of Noble prizes & patents related to SP in telecom networks.

A few engineers from Bell labs/Telcordia, that worked on signal processing(SP) - the filtering of noise from telecom networks, have had incredible performance in the market.

Many banks & hedge funds have hired SP engineers, this includes James Simons.

I am a content discretionary trader, as a hobby I have been reading patents & Telcordia pubs related to SP, trying systems rooted in SP protocols which I sees as the systematic version of classic TA in many respects.

A pile of "Noble" prizes?!

If you read the book Simons said that funds open to public are very different from medallion. Still everyone rushed to invest. One of the most important books for algo traders ever published.

Amazing Job Medallion!!!!
The Man Who Solved the Market?

Interesting. I have a friend who went the other way...he is a software engineer, attempted to go full time Algo trading but then wound up at a multi-national telecom using machine learning to predict network failures.

The question to ask is ... why is his own fund reserved for himself and employees doing much better than the fund for outside investors? What happened to fiduciary duty to clients? Money managers have no fiduciary duty to their clients?

they followed it. They openly said what they doing and did just that . No one put a gun to investors heads.

I suppose as long as the other funds beat the S&P in terms of Sharpe and MAR etc, investors will be happy.

This Quant has 14 Nobel Prize Laureates in physics and chemistry,11 Patents, and all kinds of hedge fund awards for top performance.

The point I was trying to make is there some exceptionally smart people that have found something from signal processing that can be applied to the market & are just killing it.

Digital signal processing
Analysis and design of digital signal processing systems for coding and processing of speech, audio and image signals. Multi-rate systems; adaptive filters; beam-forming, array processing and smart-antennas.

And I was just teasing about the typo.

I bet most of these nobel laureates don't know money management or macroeconomy at all. And patents mean nothing to hedge fund. There aren't much headline news about patent infringement in this field.
