I'm Officially Over My Chris Christie Bromance

Quote from Ricter:

Edit: Re the Boston bombing, how many plots are foiled, or not even launched, because someone is watching? Hard to say, but it's safe to say "some, for sure".
That is probably the 'STUPID' comment of the day. You are making an assumption with absolutely ZERO, NADA, NOT A SHRED of evidence.

But, that is exactly what stupid people do.

Quote from Ricter:

1) You're right. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew the subject has some nuance. Too often I get the sense from jem that he thinks government should always be smaller, that taxes should always be lower, etc. No, not always. 2) Circumstances matter. 3) That said, we could move on to have an interesting discussion about the actual present size of our actual government, not some philosophical principle which can only be always true in theory.

4) Edit: Re the Boston bombing, how many plots are foiled, or not even launched, because someone is watching? Hard to say, but it's safe to say "some, for sure".

5) Edit two: Is the actual NSA actually going too far at the present time? ; )
Yes, I believe it is. Our only hope is with the sheer volume of the world's daily emails and tweet. Not even the best algorithm can filter through that, and there will never be enough people on the NSA payroll to make up for it.

1) Not speaking for jem or anyone else, but when i see "the govt is too big" type comments, i always assume that there are reasons behind that statement which are not practical to list every time someone points out that the govt is too large. just my assumption.

2) I agree with that but probably not for the same reasons you do. If we are at war for example and stacking debt, it is unavoidable that it must be paid back so tax rates may have to increase to pay for some or all of the accrued debt. They don't need new tax schemes to try and 'hide' the fact they are taking more money, just rate increases. The source of our disagreement will be the role the fed govt currently plays in this country, contrasted to the legitimate role it was designed for. It is a perfectly rational gripe to point out you shouldn't be paying higher taxes for shit the govt is not even supposed to be doing.

3) That is what most of my posts are about. The legit role of govt as i see it, and i provide evidence where i can.

4) Who knows, every attack we learn about is on the news because civilians stopped it lol. The shoe bomber, tsarnaev was identified and found by the public, etc. Like pspr said where is the evidence that this program has stopped a single attack, or is that 'classified' to?

5) I obviously agree but 2 things: One, we don't know that their algo's aren't that powerful or won't be some day. Two, if the program doesn't work because the volume of data is too large to deal with, what is its purpose?

Back to Christie, he is showing his colors for sure now. You wouldn't want to elect a Bloomberg clone to the presidency after Obama, would you. He's just like Bloomy before completely flipping liberal.

He's just like the traitor we had in FL. Charlie Crist. Funny how close their last names are.

I've hated Christie since I heard the local dems in his area liked him (except for his rants).

Yeah, Crist was a real winner. I'm not real excited about the guy they got in there now either.

Christie was hard on public employee unions. That's where his credibility begins and ends. Rand isn't exactly Mr Libertarian. Calling him dangerous, is like calling Milquetoast strong.

You are right.

I think Christie was talking about Rand's views on national security though. But, I don't recall hearing Rand say he wanted to pull the military home or stop entirely Home Land Security. He's only talked about the danger of Obama droning Americans and invasions of privacy that I've heard.

So, I don't see Christie's point. But, like the article Scat posted in another thread, if amnesty gets passed, it isn't going to matter anyway. Our demise will be set in stone.

Crist works for the largest law firm in north florida now. And yes, he is a traitor. On top of that, I'll add scum bag as well.
