Don’t you need to sell first in order to buy? Are you saying that hedging allows you to lever up during sell offs?

In general when you put in a hedge for a postion your margin will be less, since your risk down. If the market moves in direction of your hedge you can eventually close your hedge

We may rally on this variant news through the rest of December. I suspected this might occur but lower tier IT could have dragged down broader markets. Cdn Oil producers will fly today if WTI stays above $71; they were moderately strong yesterday but there was still some caution on whether the rise in WTI would stick. I loaded up yesterday because barring market weakness the news on these stocks is just too good to pass up.

And with that comes the next question, when to get back in? Personally, I expect a longer (not steeper) downtrend than we had in March 2020, a way for the whales to flush out the millions of small accounts from their excessive growth and to help reduce the inflation associated with them. Do I think the market is manipulated at the macro level? Yes, I do.
I'm penciling in March/April for signs of big money interest in rejoining the market.

It’s too early to tell if we did the right thing, imho. I want to see dip buyers get hurt. Watching cryptos to see how diamond those hands really are. Meanwhile, I will be selling CSP on stocks that are getting clobbered.
Now, now, why the hatred? I'm also invested in crypto and getting hurt, but looking forward to the rebound there while trying to time my return to stocks.
