Except for pamphleteers, etc., the media has always had to sell advertising. Captain's argument is thus, the public are sheep. Which has become the goto argument lately when the public isn't doing what you want it to.

You would think that would leave an open market for a news channel to report the unbiased news.

Oh, wait. There is a news channel doing that, Fox News. And they are getting most of the cable news audience.

It's a go to argument based in fact. Who else but sheep tune in to the same channel everyday? Who else than sheep keep re-electing the same people over and over again? Who else but sheep see other sheep being slaughtered and think, it's OK, they're not coming after me, I'll just keep munching on the free grass? Who else but sheep can't figure out that if sheep get slaughtered, and if you're a f'n sheep, that somehow your turn isn't coming?
