Illegal Immigrants understand finance very well............

Quote from drsteph:

You're not getting the point.

Illegals enter the country between their teens to thirties. No fixed costs of youth to raise them (non-productive years, don't produce, only consume). Due to illegal status, they pay taxes but can't collect refunds (loophole:cash economy, nothing to do about that) Then they have babies which are now american citizens and entitled to school, SCHIPs, free lunches and govt. aid until 18, whence they enter the workforce and pay : Social Security, Medicare/mediaid, and federal taxes. For the next 40 -50 years, unless they work the system (many do), they pay in and get really very little out. Also keeps wages on the lower end low and workers mobile.

To maintain a growth economy, you have to have growth. Growth in demographics and population number is a real effect. How do you think there is going to be growth in the economy without population growth? That's called JAPAN - no growth there for 20 years and the sun seems to be setting there for ever - cultural xenophobia precludes immigration. Europe too, less acute and sooner along the curve than that.

As long as these folks pay in more than they get out, I don't have a problem with them cost shifting onto the health care industry. I'll profit on the back end selling my high end home to a 2nd generation immigrant which is his family's first success story gaining access to the professional and managerial classes.

Educated professionals come in through H1B's and stay. Physically adept and plucky souls through the rio grande.

The real hurt, I suspect, is when scores of these folks leave for their own countries along with their wealth breaking the expectations of them paying into the system and receiving nothing for it. It happened recently in 2007-2008. I don't know if anyone smarter has looked at the implications of this. Maybe they should.

Those in the middle class and upper class benefit greatly from the illegal labor. If we had to rely on Americans to do most manual labor costs and times would increase significantly. Who wants to pay 30/hr for maid or lawn service? At the end of it all they are putting more into our system than it costs us.

The real problem in this country are the "citizens" that sit on their ass and expect something for nothing.

Hospitals cannot turn away patients that come to the ER, or they run the risk of not receiving state/fed funding. This is a law that keeps this kind of crap going on and on and on.

LOL. You would rather the ER turn away patients?! Wow...

We have too. Unlike you Canadians, we waste a shit load of $$$ occupying foreign soil.

Wait just print more $$$. No more M3 so no problem right! :p

Really? Do you remember a time you could make good money doing manual labor? I do. The burnouts in HS hung drywall and such. Even in Colorado when I drive by a new construction site today there is 1 non Hispanic maybe.

I grew with illegals all around, all my life in Southern CA. Nobody cared that they did ditches, wash cars, pick vegetables, and mow lawns. When they took away drywall, electrical, and such trades that hurt.

No, this is where they all come in to. The mooches don't have a family doctor, so anytime they want to get treated, they head straight for the ER, b/c they know that (unlike a doctor's office) they won't be turned away. That's what I'm saying. Have a headache?? Go to the ER. Have herpes?? Go to the ER...they can't turn you away. That's another reason why ER waiting times are absurd. A fair amount of people sitting there don't have an emergency, they just don't have insurance.

Exactly. As long as it's not your ox that is gored we dont care.

Illegal aliens/healthcare issue is small potatoes but such a hot button issue because health care costs are rising at such a unsustainable rate and thus the perfect scapegoat excuse.

The fact is demographics is destiny and if the Jones' dont breed then Gonzalez better whether they are illegal or otherwise. Because then the REAL ponzi scheme of medicaid/Social security/geezer voting block falls apart and our economy starts contracting in on itself.

Most Latinos come here to work. You would too if you lived in a hell hole like Mexico, Venezula, El Salvador etc.

Some come to work the system as evidenced by 27% in our prisons. This is what needs to be addressed but wont be until the system blows apart.

But their graft certainly isnt any less than the black man's or the white man's or any man who can work but doesnt. The problem is no one has the will to call it like it is so we have the status quo.

Which is that...

Republicans want slave labor. Dems want votes. Special advocates/ interests want their interests pandered to.

The only difference between the south of the border invasion and the Potato famine induced flood of the Irish is there was no ACLU, and welfare for able bodied bums at that time.

They had to gut it out and that has been lost to the entitlement mentality that has been fostered in the last 60 years or so.

Which is exactly why China will eat our lunch.

Too many bleeding hearts and a bloated unjustified money supply increase to feed social programs that will inevitably collaspe under its own weight.

Illegal immigation is simply a sleight of hand misdirection that could be dealt with in 1 presidental term by anyone who had the balls to take it on.

No one does.

They pay taxes? Are you talking about payroll taxes?

What percentage of illegals are paid in all or in part off the books?

Talking to guys who own landscaping companies - I know a guy who had fourteen crews at its peak 3 years ago in FLA - 90% of them all paid in cash.

How do we know if they are net positive or a net drain on CA for instance?

I once argued they were good for CA. But, as I began to read all costs involved - I wondered if the costs should not just been redistributed in better manner.

Society does not distribute good properly if the costs are not priced into the goods.

hence ca is mess.

Quote from Trader666:

For you, probably not.

The spirit of giving thanks to those who helped the first European settlers no longer rings true judging from some of the responses on this particular threat. Nobody was asking them if they had the money or were legal when the food was scarce and they were not doing very well.
I am not in favor of illegal immigration but I do take offense when some of my compatriots display a "fuck you" attitude toward pregnant women and unborn babies and then praise the Lord on Sunday.

Did you forget to take your medication today? ROTFLMAO!!!!
