Ignore news and trade purely technical?

Quote from ProfLogic:

News fuels the momentum of the market and the charts which they are being viewed.
News does not drive a market in a direction it wasn't already heading.

lol if you think that then you really have never followed news. what book did you pick those lines from?

I've watched the news and how it effects individual charts for over 13 years on a real-time & daily basis and the book is mine.
Mind you the charts I watch are, most likely, not the charts you watch so what I see isn't what you see.
How long have you been trading?

i've been trading a little over 4 years. what charts would you be watching? we are talking about individual stocks, correct? what do you mean your charts are not the charts i watch? do you mean you do more long term trades?

anyhow...some of my biggest trades have been news based reversal plays.

PL is sorta giving you a wakeup call since you are inexperienced and not trading on a very high skill level.

I follow the news but bad news makes market rallies sometimes, and good news sink the markets. I pay close attention to volume

depends what is priced into the market already. buy the rumor sell the news or vice versa.

Pending home sales. It was priced a -0,4% it came out a +6,something. The markets didn't go up and a little bit later they dived.

the homebuilders are still really weak now and people have been discounting anything that looks positive from them. you can get a nice pop from some news that looks good but anytime they end up on lows i'm not surprised. the industry is still doing horrible. also a lot of them had credit downgrades today which is never positive for debt costs. weakness in the financials didn't help them either.
