There's a difference between a gaffe and a completely false assertion. A gaffe is unintentional, whereas AOC truly meant to say most of the things she has. Sharp. Lol...sure.

Bernie is an idealist who believes socialism is a better solution than capitalism. I disagree with him, but I agree with a lot of his points about banks, Wall Street, inequality, and so on. AOC is just plain reckless.

I'm not writing her off at all. I just think it is a good thing (for the right) the more she is in the public eye.

On the gaffe thing, we'll have to agree to disagree. If she corrects her mistakes on twitter after saying them out in public (I'm not going to go look at her twitter stream, for the love of God) then it makes it even worse that she's so "ready, fire, aim". If she were really dangerous, she'd call out the truth - and there's plenty of that to stir up the populace, not shoot her mouth off and then have to look like an idiot.

The last two things I read from this GWBtrading for example just said 10% of Canadians have travelled to the USA for medical procedures with no source. I work with a lot of Canadians and not possible, it is unlikely even if all medical procedures in all the world (Germany, Mexico etc. where electives are cheaper were included. He posts unsourced 'facts' out of his ass a LOT and who corrects this? He made a thread yesterday where he posts some climate article from a meteorologist who included data/chart so garbage nobody could stand near the smell. But silence. Treefrogtrader is a wingnut and Infowars man is beyond help yet the right is silent.

There are numerous previous posts about the Canadian Healthcare system. I have posted facts sourced from the Canadian government and media sources such as the National Post which has covered the issues with Canadian healthcare in depth. Most of this was in response to nine_ender who seems to be incapable of comprehending facts put out by his own government. You are welcome to go back and read all the posts which include links to all the statistic, facts and government data -- including Canadian government data which stated that 10% of Canadians have deliberately traveled to the U.S. for medical or health services at least once in their lives.

I regularly post links to support the facts I assert. At this point I can only assume that you are another alias for nine_ender or one of the other clowns in this forum attempting to be abusive. Another sad fail on your part.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., might want to brush up on some history after asserting, incorrectly, that Republicans in Congress amended the Constitution to kick President Franklin Delano Roosevelt out of office.

"They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected," Ocasio-Cortez said Friday during a night hall event with MSNBC with Chris Hayes.

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution which passed in 1947.

The text of the amendment states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” FDR died in 1945, meaning he was dead for a full two years before presidential term limits were implemented.

This is not the first time Ocasio-Cortez has made factually dubious statements. For instance, in December of last year she claimed "Medicare for All" could be funded by $21 trillion in accounting errors by the Pentagon.

But he left office in a casket with plenty of time on his third term, they were, it seems rushing to get the amendment ratified in time to preclude any possibility of his running for a fourth term. Looks to me like the timing is a close call. Probably her choice of words isn't the best. I doubt the amendment would have been applied retroactively were he still in his third term when the amendment was ratified, but who knows. There can at least be no question that FDR provided the inspiration for those pushing the amendment.

Yes it was. But it was introduced AFTER he was dead.

When was it introduced exactly? Feb. 1947. right? FDR died April 12, 1945. So GWB is correct on this one. They couldn't have 'kicked him out' with the amendment because it wasn't introduced until well after Truman was President. It is generally acknowledged that FDR was the inspiration behind the amendment. Score GWB 1 AOC 0 on this one!

First let's correct this with the correct facts - FDR won election for his third term in 1940. FDR won election for his fourth term in 1944. He died on April 12, 1945.

No amendment legislation to limit the number of terms a President could serve until after FDR was dead. Certainly the legislation (driven by Republicans) was to eliminate any President in the future from serving more than two terms -- a practice which was a custom in the U.S. but was not part of the Constitution until the 22nd amendment was passed.
