If you're poor, just stop being poor

Why look at Detroit when I can look at Conservative hellholes like Missisippi and Alabama?

Hell, let's look at the Con miracle of Texas.
50th in percentage of population with health insurance (2010)
50th in percentage of children insured (2009)
50th in percentage of women receiving early prenatal care (2010)
45th in rate of infectious diseases (2010)
44th in percentage of children in poverty (2010)
42nd in per capita health care funding (2010)
40th in overall health (2010)
36th in high school graduation rate (2010)
35th in crime (2010)
35th in percentage of children immunized (2010)
34th in rate of occupational fatalities (2010)
30th in percentage of people with college degree (2008)
Texas also ranks:
1st in amount of recognized carcinogens released into the air (2002)
4th highest in release of toxic chemicals into the environment (2002)
8th highest in percentage of people below poverty level (2008)
13 th highest in obesity (2010)
Why do people move, for a better opportunity?
Few people will move into a state with the conditions you list, unless those are marginal factors.

Texas added more than 387,000 residents between July 1, 2012, and July 1, 2013, and more than 1.3 million since April 1, 2010, significantly more than any other state, according to estimates released Monday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

And how is it idiotic?

Did you not read .. or comprehend what I stated about my grandfather? Grew up poor on a farm. Dropped out of school in 4th grade. Worked farm from 10 - 13. Then into a factory. Later started a business.

See, he CHOSE to do something about his plight in life. Not bitch and whine as you want to do. Anyone who wants to succeed can. But many would rather have $$$$ handed to them for doing NOTHING. Easier to collect $50K per year in government benefits than to work your butt off to make that same $50K or more.

I love a good granddad story. Without the lecture and scolding would of made it a better story.

haha, these are brain dead zombies max, they can't even understand that the govt is funded by taxpayers. Govt subsidies are not the same as tax breaks, period. That said, I'm all for no federal subsidies AND no tax breaks.

I agree, I want equal tax for all, ive never gotten a break on taxes in my life, there should be no special tax breaks for the connected class.

With that said, all i can do is shake my head and laugh when assholes like futurecurrents say that a guy who gets a 20 million dollar break on his 250 million dollar tax bill is "corporate welfare" as if its the same as a guy who contributes nothing to society, and takes government money for sitting on his ass and doing nothing. Real Welfare. The difference between the two is so large they dont even belong in the same dictionary.

Please do not smoke crack during the day and post here. Odumbo has created the largest deficit EVER. Deficit went up $4.9 trillion in Bush's 2 terms. Odumbo racked up $4.93 trillion in his first term alone. He'll take it well north of $12 trillion in all likelihood by the time he's gone.

Currently more than $17.4 trillion as In post this.

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

So Odumbo has racked up $7.5 trillion in 6 years.

Who is stopping those people from getting an education or stepping up and being proactive?

My grandfather had to drop out of school in the 4th grade to work. He was 10. He started working in a factory at age 13.

Well there's a thing. Would that factory have even existed in America today, or would it be cheaper to employ a 13 year old in Laos or Vietnam? When a big company decides to shut down a factory in a town and the whole town's economy goes to the wall, simply telling people to step up and find a job isn't going to help in a shrinking employment market.

He made it through the Great Depression with 5 kids and a relative he had taken in. Did he cry about his plight in life?

I'll bet that being in the Great Depression with 5 kids probably would have made him cry at the time. Were you there?

He later started a plumbing & heating company with that 4th grade education.

Lots of people don't have entrepreneurial skills. 80% of businesses fail.

Fact is many in society today are lazy, unmotivated and see how that can pay off.

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

and then tell them to JUST STOP BEING poor, because Lady Liberty no longer cares for them. They're useless. If they would rather die they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.

How might benevolent of you to interact with these lowlifes, we can do with more of your kind showing these scum what it means to be a smart rich Republican.

Hey idiot! I give back to society. I go into high poverty schools and volunteer. That said I see firsthand quite a few parents who want and demand handouts. Why do you want to continue to deny FACTS? I show them that hard work can lead them to a BETTER life, which many kids aspire to.

You are an idiot. The deficit is Bush's fault. Obama was saddled with a pile of shit when he got in. And despite all the GOP could do to stop him, things have gotten much better.

You're right .. everything is Bush's fault. Heck the Ukraine problems were blamed on him by Rachael Maddow.

Foot Stamps were 32 million when Odumbo arrived .. now over 47 million .. 50% increase. We can go on and on about all the ever expanding entitlement programs that have mushroomed during Odumbo's tenure. If things are better then WHY do the handous continue to expand?

And why is the labor participation rate is the lowest since the 70's if things are so good?

[/I]"...and then tell them to JUST STOP BEING poor, because Lady Liberty no longer cares for them. They're useless. If they would rather die they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.

"Provide for yourself or perish". It's the way of the world (except in "Entitlement Land".)

Hey Rollo ... you created this ID yesterday, huh? Are you and US Socialist, who created an ID Saturday, one and the same?

But to answer your question ... first, there are jobs out there if someone truly wants to work. On the side I handle a couple rental houses. I have trouble finding RELIABLE help to clean them ... even offering $150 per house for what amounts to a 3 or 4 hour job? $37.50 to $50/hour to clean isn't too shabby.

No, I wasn't there during the Depression but my Dad was and growing up I learned a lot of this from my Grandfather.

Ahhhh, yes ... 80% of businesses fail. Glad my Grandfather didn't have the pessimistic, loser mindset you have or he would have never tried. He worked 14 hours a day ... failure was NOT an option.
