We tend to do that. You have to ask yourself what was so important about $25 that you missed an opportunity to ride a winner? On the bright side opportunity lost, no money. Well except for the initail stop loss.
If you use stop losses then you are essentially gambling

I took the ostrich (or deer in the headlight) approach during drawdowns.

I shouldn't talk because I don't live there, but have you seen who's running the country? I don't care which party just that no one seems concerned about spending. Not any better here in the frozen north.
It is the curse of democracy, in north America or Europe. To be popular and get elected, they have to be able to please the masses, so no pain during my watch and let those that follow clean up the mess. Easiest no pain is to print $ and give out freebies... $$$$.
But if you are like me, already over the hill, both Canada and the US won't go bankrupt in our life time, we kick the can to the nextgen.
