Here is an example. IWM closed @ 202.96 and opened the next day @ 196.22 so how would stops have helped you in that scenario? It dropped even lower intraday, so since you think like the average retail investor, you would have been stopped out at some point after market opened taking huge losses. The next day price reversed and completely recovered so doing nothing was the best course of action...it usually is.

There is an Enron employee who is not at the top management but, maybe, middle management who kept buying Enron stock as it went lower. He lost everything. Blind as a bat, he cannot see that there is something wrong with the company as Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling dumped tens of millions of shares in the stockmarket near the top. As they say, you cannot fix stupid.
Anyone can see the huge volume spikes as the stock goes parabolic. A sure sign that it is almost over. Watch Dumb Money movie. The greedy ones always get shafted in the end. Smart ones, cuts and runs. You will never get the absolute top or bottom. That is a fool's errand.

Well, I am not sure what to tell you NoahA. I want to make money as much as I can. If it makes money and I like it will do it in trading.
I have said over 1000 times, I learned trading from other traders right here on ET forum for the kind cost of $0.00. I have tried other members techniques as well. I tried all kinds of trading styles.
Yes I am, I make money on my main way of trading too using stop loss always.
But today , I went in my other trading account, I wanted to see if not using stop loss makes money as well. It works, and I will keep on doing it, it makes money for me.
Now I got 3 ways of making money. this way, my way, and my algo way.
I do not discriminate when it comes to make money in the ES futures market. All 3 ways can help me reach a million faster.
